LAURETTE ST. HILAIRE
(nee DUPUIS)
Mom was born on September 1, 1927, in the town of St. Jean Baptiste, Manitoba. She grew up on a farm west of town with her parents, Alphonse and Anna Dupuis; and four sisters, Alice, Antoinette, Imelda and Irene. She spent a portion of her school years in the St. Jean convent. Later mother met the love of her life, Albert St. Hilaire, from St. Pierre Jolys, Manitoba, and they married on November 27, 1946. Together they took over the family farm of Alphonse and Anna Dupuis and raised their family. Mom dedicated her life mainly to her family. When she found the time, she loved doing handicrafts of all kinds. In the later years, after Dad retired, they loved to camp and travel. After father passed away, mother spent the rest of her life at Action Marguerite Care Home. Mother was a devout Catholic who chose to follow the teachings of the Lord and Mother Mary throughout her life and we know her efforts were discreet and sincere.
Mom was predeceased by her parents; her sisters; her husband Albert; and her son Robert. Laurette will be sadly missed by her children, Gil (Debbie), Raymond (Linda), Claudette, Lionel (Gudrun), Leon (Carolyn), Noel (Christine); and daughter-in-law Doris, widow of Robert; grandchildren, Jason (Andrea), Nicole (Ryan), Michelle (Carlos), Britnie, Mallory (Cody), Roxanne (James), Jeremie (Brittanie), Stephane, Justin, Kaetyn, Melissa; and seven great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Actionmarguerite for the loving care of mother for the last 13 years of her life. A special thanks to Monique and the many others on 2DE day shift. There are too many to name. We appreciate each and every one of you more than you know.
Also, the family would like to say a big thank you to Cecile St. Amant and her daughter Suzanne for spending precious hours with mother for the many years she was at the care home.
We will surely miss mother's smile and determination.
Due to the COVID 19 restrictions, a service will be planned at a later date.
In accordance to Laurette's wishes, cremation will take place.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favourite charity.

Sincere condolences to all my dear cousins and their families. Too many memories of Christmas past when the St. Hilaires would share their home with the extended families of Alphonse and Anna. Those were the days! R.I.P. Laurette! - Posted by: Don Tomac (Nephew) on: Dec 14, 2020

I remember Christmas gatherings on the St. Hilaire farm, house overflowing, delicious aromas from a table laden with food, chatter from grown-ups and cousins. I still have a toy yarn poodle, that Auntie made once she had more time while living in town. Good bye Auntie. Rest in Peace. Give Mom a hug. - Posted by: Yvonne Jansen (Delorme) (niece) on: Dec 12, 2020

Our sympathies to all the St. Hilaire family on the loss of their mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Laurette. Her family upbringing made her the caring and devout Christian human being that she was. She is now reunited with all of them, her beloved husband, and son. May she be at peace and rest in the loving arms of her Saviour. 🙏🏻 - Posted by: Noëlla (Grégoire) Gagné (Cousin) on: Dec 12, 2020
