Jean was born April 23, 1944 in Kansas City, MO, the eldest child of Harry and Mary Ferris. She trusted the Lord Jesus as her Saviour at the tender age of nine, and faithfully followed the Good Shepherd all her life.
Jean graduated in 1962 from Theodore Roosevelt High School in Des Moines, IA. In 1963, she continued her education in Minneapolis at the Swedish Hospital School of Nursing. Upon completing her nursing training, she worked a further three years at the Swedish Hospital. August 24, 1968 she was united in marriage to Helmut Zimmermann, and subsequently moved to Winnipeg.
In the summer months, for many decades, Jean served faithfully at Faith Bible Camp; first as nurse, followed by a season running the tuck shop, and finally as head cook. She was involved in the assembly teaching Sunday school, and contributing to the sisters' missionary class. Through her service, Jean made many precious friendships over the years. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Jean is survived by her husband of 52 years, Helmut; and children, Mark (Cammie), grandson Toby; Ruth; Andrew (Alyssa), and grandchildren, Brielle and Beau; sister, Patricia Van Essen; brother John (Ruth) Ferris; sister-in-law Myrna Ferris; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Jim.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Bible Camp, 760 Charleswood Road, Winnipeg, MB R2R 1K6.
