WILLIAM JAMES RILEY

After a short but courageous battle with cancer, it is with deep regret that I announce the passing of my brother James on November 29, 2020, at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg at the age of 57.
James is survived by his sister Judy of Winnipeg; three sons, Adam, Matthew and Jeffrey and their mother residing in Quebec, as well as many relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his mother Regina and his father William.
James served in the Canadian Forces from 1983 to 1999 obtaining the rank of Master Corporal.
As per James wishes cremation has taken place and no service is planned.
If friends so desire donations in James' name may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Jim and I were friends as Privates while medics in Halifax 1984-88. Great fiend, amazing athlete, Hockey, badminton and a lover of music and life. I have fond memories of a round trip we took from NS to Ontario, Atlantic city and across the eastern states home. Gone far too quick. RIP my friend. - Posted by: Ken Gillis (Friend) on: Mar 05, 2021

  • My condolences to Judy on the passing of your only brother James, he always was so polite and cheery when your parents and I were sitting having a few bubblies. It’s a shame that he had to leave us far too soon, I have some nice pictures of your mom and dad, James and Grandma Muir, sincerely yours Shirley Zolondek (formerly of Beausejour) - Posted by: Shirley Zolondek (Family friend) on: Jan 09, 2021

  • My deepest condolences on James' passing. He was both a student of mine in Canadian history as well as a player on my first water polo team. He always gave the effort and had a warm engaging smile. I am very saddened by his passing. - Posted by: Tom Dercola (Teacher) on: Dec 15, 2020
