Condolences & Memories (11 entries)

  • This morning I found out the reason why Rolly wasn’t returning my call to fix my stove as I searched the Internet. What a shock to learn about his passing! I’ve counted on Rolly to fix everything for decades. He even wired my house in Southdale in 1967! I will miss him because he wasn’t just an incredible repairman but a great guy too. I offer my condolences to the entire family and his brother-in-law who worked alongside Rolly on house calls. His presence and good nature will be missed by all. - Posted by: Gilbert Perrin (Friend) on: Jan 07, 2021

  • I am certain Roland was met at the Gates of Heaven by his Angel; Raymonde his beautiful wife who loved him dearly. May they be together again enveloped by the love and peace of Christ. - Posted by: Carmen Piche Whittle (Sister In Law) on: Dec 15, 2020

  • Rolly was a selfless individual, always there when you needed him and a pleasure to sit and chat with. His laugh was infectious and he will be missed by all that knew him and I am glad to have had the pleasure to spend time with him on beautiful summer days at the RC flying field. - Posted by: Len Cymbal (Friend) on: Dec 13, 2020

  • An honest man and a Hell Of a good worker. A true sense of humour was always there with him around no matter what his difficulties were. I will miss that tap on the head at Sal's when he would come by with his newspaper. He did many fixing at our place, clothes dryer, dish washer, washing machine and freezer. A great man who we will miss greatly. Bon voyage Rollie, hope to see you again one day. - Posted by: Bernard and Lois Lecuyer (Friends) on: Dec 12, 2020

  • Roland was a great enthusiast of radio controlled airplanes often seen on weekends in St. Vital flying his planes. He was a great contributor for his club involved in field maintenance. He was also a great car enthusiast (Ford) and we often gibbitzed about this He had car which he was building but never got to finish. I also had a hot rod (Chevy) which had a Ford nine inch rear end. I would always remind him that the only thing Ford was good for was bringing up the rear. He was a great fan of NASCAR racing until he got turned off because the cars looked nothing like the cars you would get off the lot. Fishing derby’s were always a treat to look forward to. I remember the time his son latched on to a fish which he fought for a long while. Roland said “ I don’t think the boat is big enough for this fish”. We never found out because the fish got away. I always enjoyed our too short times together. Rest In Peace brother. Our memories will always be fond. Paul Savard. - Posted by: Paul savard (Brother in law) on: Dec 12, 2020

  • Uncle Roland was a fixture at the Lecocq/Malo annual fishing trips. We all brought our rods and reels, but the highlights were always the stories shared at the cabins about the big ones that got away. Roland often recorded the events with his camera of phone. He loved to spend time with his boys and his brothers and brother in law. His keniving laugh would often be heard as someone got caught in one of his ruses. He was always a techno buff. I remember him at family reunions varying around the big Brick cords less joiner, having the latest technology whenever he could. His Rolltech email always brought a smile to my face. He never left you hanging either. Washer and dryer or furnace emergencies?! Rolly just threw on his cape and saved the day. He will be yearly missed but the stories of him... those are memories that are timeless and will never be forgotten. - Posted by: Darcel Lecocq (Nephew) on: Dec 12, 2020
