LEONARD JOSEPH KERELUK

Sadly on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, Leonard Joseph Kereluk, Lenny as he was known to many, passed away at the age of 72.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Lisa (Greg), brothers David (Debbie), Wayne (Dawne), and sister Elaine (Mike). Leonard had several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and his sidekick, Calum, whom all held a special place in his heart.
Leonard was predeceased by his parents, Stan and Mary, his brother, Randy, his first wife, Marion, his second wife, Helene, and several fur kids.
Leonard had two great loves in life, sports and his family. As a young boy growing up in the North End of Winnipeg, Leonard loved to escape the city and spend time out at one of the family farms in either Komarno or Meleb, Manitoba.
Over the years, Leonard could be seen in the stands and the pits at Red River Co-op Speedway, cheering on his brother Wayne, and more recently, his nephew and godson, Ryan, who raced modified and late model cars.
Leonard loved watching NASCAR, football, hockey, curling, baseball, well, pretty much any sport on TV in his basement.
Leonard started his career as a mechanic, following in the footsteps of his father, Stan. Lenny's brothers, David and Wayne, also had the same passion for working on cars as their big brother.
After his career as a mechanic, Leonard did a 360 and embarked on a career in the funeral industry. He spent over 40 years with his extended family from Cropo Funeral Chapel. It was there that he met his second wife, Helene, where they worked together for many many years.
As of late, Leonard enjoyed traveling down to Florida with his cousin, Martin, to spend part of the winter with his daughter, Lisa, and son in law, Greg.
Family meant everything to Leonard, he was the glue that held the Kereluk family together. A large void exists now, leaving so many memories to cherish.
Leonard will be cremated, and due to COVID-19 restrictions, a celebration of Leonard's life will be held at a later date in 2021.

  • My sincere condolences to the Kereluk family during this most difficult time. Lenny and my Dad, Barry Palmer worked together for many years at Cropo Funeral Home. And we had many get-togethers with the Kereluk family at that time. When we started to lose family members and the services were at Cropo's, it was always a comforting feeling to see and speak to Lenny there.
