JOYCE JULIET URSO
(nee STARINK)
July 1, 1924
- December 11, 2020

We are deeply saddened as we announce the passing of our Mother and Grandmother, Joyce, on December 11, 2020, aged 96, at the Park Manor Personal Care Home as a result of COVID-19.
Joyce will be sadly missed by son Vince (Pamela), son Fred (Carrie), daughter Kathy (Alistair), grandchildren, Kristen, Tyler, Matthew, Sarah, Adam and Ryan.
Joyce leaves to mourn her siblings, Connie, Hazel (Fred) and Doug. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.
Joyce was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Hazel Starink, husband Salvatore (Sam) (December 4, 2020), brothers, Everett, Stan, Gordon, and her sister Marlene.
Joyce was born July 1, 1924 in Winnipeg, MB. Joyce was a Scout leader for many years, and worked at the Eaton's downtown store in her early years. Joyce met her husband Sam, of 64 years, at a dance at Winnipeg Beach. They married in September 1956 raising a family in the East Kildonan area. Joyce, who liked to keep busy, was always doing something with her time from being a Tupperware dealer to her love of Gardening. Joyce joined the East Kildonan Garden Club in 1987 and later became their president. Joyce would spend hours in her yard tending to her garden and her many flowers with absolute care. Joyce loved her grandchildren, her day wasn't complete unless she took them out for breakfast and then had them spend the whole day with her. Joyce enjoyed her visits with nephew Norman, especially that one special day she went for a ride with him on his motorcycle. That ride made her smile all day.
Joyce spent the past few years at Park Manor Personal Care Home.
Thank you to the Park Manor Personal Care Home staff for their support of Mom during her time at Park Manor.
Joyce will be missed by her family and friends.
Cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
Flowers are gratefully declined in favour of a kind gesture to another person.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Vincent, Fred and Cathy I am so sorry to read about Aunty Joyce’s passing. She grew up across the street from my Mom and was Maid of Honour at my parents wedding and was my Godmother. She will be missed. Florence - Posted by: Florence O’Shea (Caminha) (Goddaughter) on: Jan 12, 2021

  • Can a heart be fatally broken? To Kathy, Fred, Vincent, and family, we are so sorry to hear of your incredibly painful time. Sometimes there are no adequate words. We mourn with you; though we also remember the strength of your Mom, and cannot help but smile at her honest and forthright, yet always kind and generous, sharing of her wisdom and caring of friends and neighbors.
