JEFFREY WAYNE HEIDE
July 24, 1956 - November 19, 2020

On Thursday, November 19, 2020, after a 12 ½ year fight against cancer, our hero ended his battle. Jeff was the ultimate fighter against this disease; he fought with grace, dignity and determination.
Jeff passed away peacefully at home with his family by his bedside. He has left to mourn, his wife of 33 years, Lisa Hill and their two beautiful daughters, Kelsey and Megan. Jeff also leaves to mourn, his father Peter Heide; sister Shelley and Don Marion/ family; in-laws, Andrea and Don Gawick / family; Kathy and Lyle Campbell/ family and Jane Hill. As well, extended family and an amazing group of friends that meant the world to Jeff.
Jeff was employed with the City of Winnipeg Transit for 25 years and finished his career as the senior timekeeper. He cherished the friendships he had with his colleagues at Transit.
Jeff was "that guy" whom literally everyone loved. He was a great friend, an amazing listener and truly a hero to so many who observed his strength and determination, to live his life in such a proactive, positive way.
If you were lucky enough to call him your friend, you knew it was an unconditional, true friendship. He loved to chat cars, renovations, good wine, great food, travel and to go with these genuine, authentic conversations, you would be offered a "captain" with lots of lime.
People described Jeff as having a quiet confidence; he was a kind person and a generous friend. He had a deep desire to make the world better for anyone he met and was truly one in a million.
We must mention the profound love Jeff had for us - Lisa, Kelsey and Megan. He was the most selfless man and his whole mission in life was to make our lives as best as they could be. He would stop at nothing to make our dreams come true.
To know Jeff was to love him, rest in peace my sweet, sweet man. I love you.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Jeff's memory to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.
We would like to thank Dr. Paul Daeninck and his amazing team, as well as the chemo treatment room nurses, especially Trish, Cheryl, Michelle and Crystal.

  • Lisa, I heard of Jeff’s passing through Diane Patterson and Dave and I just watched the beautiful service on Vimeo. I never had the privilege of meeting Jeff but can tell from the beautiful words spoken by yourself and your daughters that this was truly my loss. Dave and I have heard over the years of Jeff’s battle through Kathy and Lyle. He was clearly a courageous man. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family as your journey through this most difficult time. Audrey - Posted by: Audrey Roberts (High school friend of Lisa’s) on: Dec 20, 2020

  • My sincere condolences to Lisa and family on Jeff’s passing. I was friends with Jeff back in the 70’s and have great memories of him tearing around Southdale/Windsor Park in his Camaro and spent many an evening at the Windsorian watching the bands with him and his buddies.
