ROGER HARDMAN

Peacefully, after a brief, courageous battle with cancer, Roger Hardman passed from this life to his next challenge on December 8, 2020, at his home surrounded by family.
He will be sadly missed by his children, Roger Jr. (Cathy), Stonewall; Darcy (Kim), Selkirk; and Teri-Lynn (John) Lovenjak, Ashfield; by his grandchildren, David, Kristi, Dustin, Scott, Jordanna, and Jody, and great-grandchild, Knox. He had two loves of his life, predeceased by his loving wife of 40 years, Marlean, and survived by Janet Vaughn.
Roger was born in Saskatchewan on January 8, 1940. He relocated to Melville, SK where he met Marlean and moved to Regina to start their lives together. In 1962, opportunities for a better life relocated them to Thompson, MB. Roger worked for Inco, retiring as the General Forman of the Smelter. He enjoyed his family most of all. Spending many hours with his children and grandchildren at sporting events and musical performances. They relocated to Winnipeg in 2000.
In 2010, through a Dysart, SK reunion, he was reconnected with Janet. They spent 10 happy years together continuing the tradition of watching grandchildren at sporting events, musical performances and visiting his mom, Sophia, until last Christmas at 109 when she passed.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Perez, Dr. Czaykowski and Dr. Pilkey, as well as a special thank you to all the palliative care team and occupational health team.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Roger's memory can be made to palliative care and/or Cancer Care.
A Celebration of Life will be arranged at a later date, summer 2021 (dependent on the current COVID restrictions) at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens and rite of committal will be at Ashfield Community Cemetery (Northeast corner of 44 Hwy and 59 Hwy).

  • Roger was an amazing person. He showed all family members examples of "family first" and celebrating the positives that life gives us. I only got to meet Roger a few times over the years and every time it seemed like we were long lost friends. He always found a way to have fun while making me feel at home and important. I treasure my memories of him and what he stood for. Rest in peace dear uncle. I also lost my father (his brother-in-law), Clarence Schmidt just a month before. I hope that these two great men get a chance to re-unite in an afterlife and can rest easier knowing that have done a very good job while alive on earth. - Posted by: kevin schmidt (nephew) on: Dec 20, 2020
