CYNTHIA FILIMOWSKI
Predeceased by her husband Karol of 54 years, Cynthia leaves behind her son Mark (Melissa) and daughter Lisa (Dale). She will be greatly missed and loved by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Cynthia was born in Manchester and after graduating high school she learned how to work with blueprints and engineering drawings which would serve her well in the future.
She loved to dance! And it was on the dance floor that she met her partner for life, Karol. In 1967, Cynthia and Karol made the life changing decision to move the family to Canada arriving in Winnipeg in late August and settling into Fort Garry a year later. A career at CAE and later at Flyer Industries as a technical librarian opened the door to new friends and many entertaining dinners and gatherings. To this day, many of those people are still our friends even though they are scattered around the world. Mum and Dad enjoyed camping and fishing and spent many summers at their trailer at Royal Lake and then at Perch Bay Resort near Keewatin. Mum loved to tend to her garden, stick her nose in a good book, enjoy a good play or concert, and get together with friends for lunch. And of course, staying in touch with her roots by watching Coronation Street and following the Royals.
COVID-19 has forced us to postpone the celebration of Cynthia's life until later in 2021 it will be great to see family and friends get together again over a glass of sherry (or red wine) to share their warm memories of Mum.
We would like to thank the amazing nurses and support staff on MP2 at Misericordia Place for being Mum's surrogate family when the pandemic closed the doors to all these facilities. Each one of them shows exceptional compassion for the residents in their care and unending patience with the families that pester them regularly; I will miss our phone calls.
We would ask that in lieu of flowers, please send donations in Cynthia's memory to the Misericordia Health Centre Foundation, 99 Cornish Ave. Winnipeg, MB R3C 1A2 so that they can continue the wonderful care they offer their residents.
Family and friends are invited to leave condolences and share memories on Cynthia's memorial page at seasonsfuneral.ca

So sorry to hear of your mother's passing Lisa & Mark. I spent several years working with Sylvia at CAE. I had not heard from her for a couple years so I was trying to find her location on Google and this obit popped up. Was a shock for sure. Loved her pleasant personality and laugh. I remember the times we spent at Cynthia & Karl's home and the good times we had. Such a beautiful person and she will be surely missed by her family and friends alike. Thoughts and prayers for you at this difficult time in your life. Take care! - Posted by: Linda Bowser (Working colleague and friend) on: Dec 26, 2020

Mark, I wish you and Lisa all the best with the passing of your Mum. I'm sure you'll keep her with you through your lifetimes. She must have been a very trusting parent. Nothing else could explain her watching three overgrown young men piling into your old Mini and heading onto Winnipeg winter streets on the way to high school basketball games. Cherish the memories, my friend. - Posted by: Curtis Findlay (Mark's Friend) on: Dec 19, 2020
