KIM KRAHN
1968 - 2020

It is with great sadness we announce the passing on December 12, 2020 of Kimberley Lynn Krahn at the age of 52, from Multiple Myeloma. Kim passed at home surrounded by her loving family.
Kim was born in Winnipeg to Ike and Susan Krahn. She will be lovingly remembered by Brennan, her husband of twenty-four years, son Travis, her brother Steve, father and mother Ike and Susan, father-in-law Neil, mother-in-law Joan, devoted pup Andy and cat Koal, as well as many other close family and friends.
Kimberley will forever be remembered for her effervescent personality, fantastic hugs, and infectious laugh. She was never afraid to try new things, from home repair to barbecuing, Kim's courage and self-confidence always shone through. Kim was an accomplished cook and gardener and her delicious meals will be missed.
Kim loved her friends deeply making many special connections. Kim especially enjoyed her yearly getaway weekends with the girls at the cabin, lunch dates with friends to catch up on things, and just staying in touch with phone calls and texts day and night.
Kimberley was an accomplished ICU nurse, working at Health Sciences for the better part of 30 years. Kim won a nursing excellence award in 2003, highlighting her extraordinary caring and compassion which can be recounted by many colleagues and patients.
As per Kim's wishes, cremation has taken place and she was interred close to her grandparents at Chapel Lawn. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, memorial services will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations are made to Myeloma Canada or the Gimli Humane Society in Kim's name.

  • I had the joy of meeting Kim , she was walking the same journey I am! I felt I had a special bond with her. Enjoyed the chats I had with her the times we met up for lunch. Condolences to all the family.. - Posted by: Susan Harder (Friend) on: Dec 22, 2020

  • Brennan, Travis & Family, Hugging is the most beautiful form of communication that allows the other person to know beyond a doubt that they matter. Kim gave the best hugs ! We'll miss them dearly. Thinking of you in these difficult times. - Posted by: Cathy and Linda Ferguson (Friends of Kim) on: Dec 22, 2020

  • I met Kim at a Meet and Greet for myeloma patients in April of 2018. She was recovering from her stem cell transplant and had volunteered to coordinate that year's Make Myeloma Matter walk in September. I had the privilege to be her helper. It was obvious from the turnout that year of her friends and family that Kim was well loved and respected. She was sweet, caring, humble and positive. She laughed easily and a hug from Kim was always filled with genuine warmth. Kim also coordinated the 2019 walk and she was so happy with the turnout, 300 people and the amount raised for Myeloma Canada was the highest yet for Winnipeg. Her family meant the world to her and her times at the cottage were some of her best. She has left her mark on all who knew her through the support group. I am feeling so blessed that our paths crossed and I will hold her tenderly in my heart. Dave and I are sending all her family our deepest sympathies. She was an angel walking with us and she has now got her wings! Love you my sweet Kim! - Posted by: Jackey LaBossiere (member of support group) on: Dec 21, 2020

  • I had the honor of caring for Kim during part of her therapy and couldn't help but form a close connection. It comes as no surprise that she was awarded for nursing excellence as she continued to provide support to others despite her own cancer journey. I'm so sorry Brennan and Travis, hugs to you. My condolences to you and the family. - Posted by: Jamie Vaughn (Nurse) on: Dec 21, 2020

  • Dear Brennan, Travis, Ike & Susan & Families. Our heartfelt condolences to all of you. I will always remember Kim's beautiful eyes and her infectious laugh! She was a beautiful caring person inside and out. May all the many wonderful memories you all have give you peace and comfort during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you...God Bless you all!! - Posted by: Anne & Ed Klassen (Cousin to Susan) on: Dec 19, 2020

  • I did not have the pleasure of knowing Kim well, but her mother is my cousin and I was privileged to hear stories about her for most of her life. I will miss those, as I am sure Ike and Susan will. My condolences to all who knew and loved her. Shirley Manson - Posted by: Shirley Manson (cousin) on: Dec 19, 2020
