GERALD ZIPRICK

It is with sadness that we announce the death of a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, Gerald Ziprick, 85, of Oakbank, Manitoba, Canada, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at the Kin Place Personal Care Home.
Lovingly remembered by his surviving family, his wife Freda; and their four children, Gregg (Teryl, Tanner, Travis), Glenn (Lene, Braden, Miranda), Nancy Ziprick Baert (Derek, Dylan, Melissa), Sheri Goecke (Kevin, Mikayla (Craig), Andrew, Juliana); as well as his extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Adolph and Julia; brother Phil; and sisters, Margaret and Ada.
Gerald was born on December 13, 1935 in Inglis, Manitoba. In his teens, he and his mother Julia moved to Winnipeg, where he attended Gordon Bell High School. He and Freda were married July 20, 1959. They relocated to Pointe du Bois, Manitoba where he worked for Winnipeg Hydro, and they would start their family. They would move back to Winnipeg (Windsor Park) after he started his career with the Winnipeg Fire Department from 1962 to 1992, where he would eventually retire as captain. He and Freda have called the Oakbank area home, for the past 46 years.
Dad was a loving husband, father to his children and grandchildren. He was loved by many who knew him. He would light up a room with his charismatic and strong personality. He was a humbled, hardworking, proud, generous and a humorous man. He lived his life with amazing strength and courage, and instilled these traditional values in us.
We would like to sincerely thank the staff at the Beausejour Hospital and Kin Place Personal Care Home that provided support to him and to our family during Dad's last years.
Due to Covid restrictions, a family service has been arranged, and interment and celebration of his life will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Beausejour Hospital "TV" fund, P.O. Box 1614, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0, as this really helped to pass the time and brought him some joy and laughter, during the two years he was in their care, or Defeat (MSA) Multiple System Atrophy Canada, 208-3041 Dougall Ave., Windsor, ON N9E 1S3.

  • Dear Freda and family, Please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of Gerry, a loving husband and grandfather. We knew Gerry as a person of exceptional character in all aspects and we were privileged to have been part of his life as friends and neighbors. His wit and sense of humor was infectious. Faith is comforting in knowing that he has only transitioned to a better place. In the end, God saw Gerry getting tired and a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around him and whispered, "Come to Me." A golden heart stopped beating and working hands came to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST!!! With many blessings!!! Sonia and Merv - Posted by: Sonia and Merv Michalyshen (Friends and neighbors) on: Dec 19, 2020
