DONALD TOUGAS (DON)
Born: May 16, 1954
Date of Passing: Dec 15, 2020Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or Memory
May 16, 1954 - December 15, 2020
Beloved husband to Agnès Mao, beloved father to Samuel (Marcie) and Dariène (Mike), adored grand-papa to Annabelle, Juliette and Elodie, brother to Richard (Helen), Ginette (Jean), brother-in-law to Pierre (Kathy), Guy (Shannon), Diane (Gilles) and Denis (Ellen), uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
Donald held many titles in his life; teacher, mentor, coach, principal, friend, believer, golfer, musician. However, the titles that he was most proud of were grand-papa, papa and husband. In retirement from being Principal at École Sacré-Coeur, you could find him laughing and complaining on the golf course, singing and playing guitar in his music room, travelling the world making lasting friendships, or spending time with his family and friends. Not a day went by without Donald sharing the love he had for his family. Grand-papa would happily get on the floor to play with his grandkids, read them a story, and generously scoop their ice cream. Donald was always a good listener and provided guidance to anyone who wanted it. He had an infectious laugh, and he brought life and humour to the party. Don was an entertainer, ready to embellish a story and laugh at his misfortunes, or sing songs and play guitar around the fire. Your kind soul, matter of fact opinions, and love for life will not be forgotten. On a daily basis you could hear his words "Life is good!"
Thank you for all the years of happiness you brought in our lives. We are all more confident and better people because of you. The only regret is that we will no longer be able to share time and stories. We are comforted in the thought that you continue to look out for us. The world would be a better place if everyone were a little more like Don.
Thank you to the staff of the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit and Resuscitation Team at St. Boniface Hospital. Special thanks to Dr. Strachan who worked so hard to give us time to hold his hand and say goodbye, to Sarah who showed us so much kindness, and to Rachel for her tenacity, compassion and tenderness towards Donald and us.
We thank all of our family members, friends, colleagues, neighbours near and far who have surrounded us with prayers, virtual hugs, friendships and love. Your many messages and calls bring us comfort and courage to move forward without Donald. We are blessed to have your support!
Donald was a man of faith, and loved evenings with family and friends.
A funeral and a celebration of his life will take place when we can gather and celebrate the person he was in our lives.
Donald was also a generous man. He contributed to many charitable organizations, but his favourite charity was the Centre Flavie-Laurent. In this holiday season and in this pandemic, there is so much we can do for those in need. We encourage you to give generously to this charity that was so dear to him.

Condolences & Memories (15 entries)
Agnes, truly so sorry for your loss. As I have only been a member of Elmhurst for a couple seasons, last season I was truly fortunate to be part of his playing group. On several occasions we had spoken about life and teaching others. It was an emerging friendship and I am at a loss where we will not have our chats on the course. Watching you and Don get together for Friday dinners was fun to watch and the times I joined you guys was a pleasure. - Posted by: Mike and Lorraine Lagace (Elmhurst Golf- group) on: Jan 28, 2021
- Posted by: Michelle et Eugène Prieur (good friends) on: Dec 27, 2020
