PATRICIA JEAN DEANS

It is with much sadness and dismay that we announce the passing of our mother and sister Patricia Jean Deans, aged 74, of Winnipeg, Manitoba at Grace Hospital in Winnipeg. Pat passed on December 17, 2020, after a short battle with cancer.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Dan Krasnowski (Lorelei), Jayson Krasnowski (Petrina); her brother Kerry Deans (Madeleine), dear friend Liz Campbell, and by everyone she connected with and created friendships with over the years.
Pat was born on January 27, 1946. She lived on Magnus Avenue in the North End and attended Shaugnessy and Sisler schools. She had her mother for a teacher in grade four. Her grandparents, Stuart and Adelaide Comba, had a cottage in Killarney Lake, Manitoba. She was able to prowl the sand every year with her friends and brothers as the whole family would spend the summer at the cottage. Pat was a cheerleader and baton twirler. She danced from an early age and was fortunate enough to travel and even earn a living from this pursuit. She was a member of the Valley Beaus and Belles on Red River Jamboree on CBC in the early sixties and also Swing Ding in 1965. Her love of dance lasted her whole life but she also learned to bowl and play bridge and other games. She didn't even care how many pins were staring her down from the end of the alley. She bowled in both five and ten pin leagues. Pat began her working life with the phone company as a phone operator. She moved on to the accounting offices of Federated Co-Operatives in Winnipeg when she had dished out all the Winnipeg phone numbers. She managed Willow Park East Housing Co-op in Winnipeg for about 30 years before retiring in 1999. Pat stayed busy with her many leagues, the odd shopping trip south or to the Casino. She was an important part of her mother's life as a daughter, friend and care giver for so many years.
Pat was predeceased by her mother Jean Deans in 2017, her father Albert Deans in 1990; brothers, Rodger in 1973 and Gerry in 1969. Pat had a wonderful spirit, was strong, loving, kind hearted and always smiling and laughing. She will be missed by her many friends and coworkers, her fellow bowlers, bridge ladies and her Magnus girls.
Her request was to be cremated with no formal service.
Donations may be made in her memory to CancerCare Manitoba.

  • To Pat's family. I was saddened to learn of Pat's passing. Pat was my very best friend when we were kids growing up on Magnus Avenue. We made many childhood memories together through Shaughnessy United Church and Shaughnessy Park school. We shared many things in common including our blonde hair and freckles. I remember as youngsters our mothers entered us into a freckle contest at the community club where Pat won for the most and I won for the biggest freckles. As sometimes happen when life gets in the way It wasn't until sometime later, when we met again at the Magnus Avenue Gals Christmas Get Together. This gathering was founded and initiated by Pat who managed to keep it going for all to enjoy for oh so many years. Unfortunately, this year we were unable to meet as a group due to provincial restrictions. The Gals of Magnus Avenue loved to keep in touch this way to rekindle many childhood memories and make new ones. She was a friend to all, our Magnus Avenue historian, a very dear and caring person. She will be truly missed. - Posted by: Edna (Pedlar) Lee (friends) on: Dec 28, 2020

  • Our sincere condolences go out to Pat's family. The Magnus girls are very saddened to lose our dear friend Pat. Our friendship with Pat started close to 70 years ago on Magnus Avenue. Pat started a yearly reunion where we would gather for dinner and an evening of much laughter. Eventually other girls from the Shaughnessy neighborhood joined from the neighborhood and we became the Shaughnessy girls. Pat made sure we all stayed connected planning our times together, organizing these gatherings. Pat will be missed deeply by us always. Rest in peace our dear friend. Love from The Magnus/Shaughnessy Girls. - Posted by: Cheryl Muir (friend) on: Dec 28, 2020

  • Sincere condolences to Danny and Jason and the rest of Pat’s family. Over the years Pat was always part of my visits to my aunt ( Liz Campbell). Pat and my aunt were inseparable - wise cracking and giggling like teenagers when they were together. Pat was part of our family, sharing in our joys and our sorrows. Always helpful, always kind, always smiling. My aunt will miss her dearly, and so will I. - Posted by: Cathy Campbell (Friend ) on: Dec 27, 2020

  • I am sending my condolences to the family. I grew up 4 doors down from Pat and both our families were from the Killarney area. When she starting working at Federated Co-op I was fortunate enough to drive her to work as we both still lived on Magnus Avenue in 1967. Truly a great person that will be miss by all. - Posted by: Garry Bell (Friend) on: Dec 26, 2020
