OSZKAR (OSCAR) MARX
Born February 7, 1933, in Bakonysarkany, Hungary, to Istvan and Maria Marx. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 63 years, Valerie; children, Oscar Stephen, Maria Valerie, Erika and Les (Mea), grandchildren; Vanessa, Andy, Jessica, Carly, Matthew, Nicole, Sami and Chase; his sister Rose Kerger, and numerous other family members.
He was predeceased by his son Andrew, grandson John; and brothers, Jozsef and Istvan.
Dad and Mom immigrated to Canada after the Hungarian Revolution of 1956, settling first in Saskatchewan. They were married on April 23, 1957 in Saskatoon and shortly afterwards, moved to Winnipeg where they raised their family. Dad was a cabinetmaker by trade, spending nearly 30 years with the Government of Manitoba until his retirement at age 65. Once retired, he enjoyed being a "time millionaire" and spending it with his grandchildren. His greatest joy was family. Family gatherings, the cottage, fishing and travels back to Hungary and across Western Canada were times fondly remembered. He was also actively involved for many years with Folklorama, Knights of Columbus and church. Dad was kind, loving, hard working, strong willed and patient. He was incredibly generous with his time and talents and was the foundation of our family.
To us family he was dad and husband, to grandkids, papa and nagypapa, and to many, many others, friend.
A Celebration of Life to follow.
With faith, comes love.
With love, peace.
With peace, blessings.
With blessings, God is present.
With God present, there is no need.
