KENNETH RECHIK

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of Kenneth Rechik at his home in White Rock, British Columbia, on December 9, 2020.
He leaves to mourn his son Robert; his mother Julia; his father Peter; his brother Leonard; and his former wife Orla Klassen. He also leaves numerous aunts and cousins. His cousin Richard bore a special place in his heart as he looked up to him as an older brother from his youth. He loved family gatherings, attending them whenever he came home to Winnipeg. He always liked to get things done so he was very efficient in everything he did. He enjoyed travelling both for his career and for pleasure. The furthest he ever traveled was to Thailand and his enjoyment for tropical climes led to his travelling and buying a second home in Costa Rica.
Ken was born on a cool spring day, the twenty ninth of March, 1955, in the little town of Arborg. From the time he was born he was a go-getter. His parents brought him first to Winnipeg where he grew up and lived his early life. He prospered and realized his dream to live in Vancouver, where he lived his last 24 years.
Ken loved talking and communicating complicated ideas. In fact, at two years old, he could hold a conversation in Ukrainian nonstop for over an hour just telling little stories. He aspired to be the best he could be by being industrious and self-sufficient; he was goal driven his entire life. His first job was as a gas attendant, then he went on to earn his diploma as an Instrumentation Technologist. He worked in the medical field, first as a Dialysis technician and then for many years as a pharmaceutical representative. He was also an entrepreneur. After moving to Vancouver, he purchased a transmission shop and shortly after partnered with a couple of close friends in buying a popular fish and chip restaurant right on the beach in the heart of White Rock. He did all this while still maintaining his own property management business, KOR Management, which oversaw the operations of a medical complex plus owning and operating numerous rental properties. After having his hand in this for a time, Ken made his move to owning a chain of retail stores that dealt in fine garments made of cashmere. Even after retiring in 2015 he continued dabbling, buying and selling cars.
In addition to his financial endeavors Ken loved car clubs, leading groups, music, singing, and playing drums. He was especially thrilled when he learned to play what can only be called a benchmark song, WHIPE OUT with the help from his friend Teddy.
Ken was never a slow-paced or subdued person. He was always forward thinking and planning his next accomplishment. He tried to instill this attitude in all those around him. Ken never saw anything in business or life as beyond his reach. Sadly, in the end his heart could not keep up with his energy and will, and he succumbed to heart failure at the relatively young age of 65. Now his wonderful strength and presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ken was preceded in death by all his maternal and paternal grandparents; his aunt Sophie; his cousins, Pat Mohan and David.
Ken was cremated in Vancouver and a service will be held at a later date in Manitoba.

"If love could have saved you,
you would have lived forever!"
