JUAN TORREGROSA
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of almost 52 years, Meryl, his daughter Ines (Jason), his son Roberto, granddaughters, Kayla and Chloe, whom he absolutely adored, sister Juanita, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Juan was born and raised in Spain and immigrated to Toronto in 1967, and later moved to Winnipeg in 1972. He was a very independent man, and was always proud to say that although he knew very little English when he first arrived in Canada, he was able to find a job one week after his arrival. Juan worked in the hotel and restaurant industry (fine dining) for many years in Spain, Holland, Toronto and Winnipeg. He was always happy to prepare his famous Caesar salad and paella for family and friends. He later left the restaurant industry and was employed at Deer Lodge Centre until his retirement in 2003.
Juan was an avid gardener, and was a member of the St. James Horticulture Society for many years. It always gave him great pleasure to share his many vegetables with friends and neighbours.
Juan loved to travel, and he and Meryl went on many happy and memorable trips together over the years, mainly to Mexico and Spain.
Juan was a loving husband, father and grandfather. We will miss him greatly.
Cremation has taken place, and due to Covid-19 restrictions there will be no formal service. A family graveside gathering will be held at a later date.

Meryl, we were so shocked to hear of Juan's passing. We will greatly miss his happy wave, summer yard visits, garden and flower discussions, and of course the wonderful jokes he always shared. Our deepest sympathies to you and your family during this difficult period. - Posted by: Garnet & Elsie Grudeski (Neighbor) on: Jan 05, 2021
