Dad was predeceased by his parents, Jake and Betty Kornelsen, brother Richard, two daughters, Lily and Felina. Dad was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, February 27, 1954. They moved to Canada when he was 17.
Dad is survived by his wife Marcy (Bartel) of 44 years and their three children: Lucy (Willie), Tony, and Joey (Shelby); five grandchildren, Ethan, Quillan, Shoreh, Janaya and Mila. Dad is survived by one brother Frank and one sister Sarah and their families.
Dad was raised in Mexico, and his family moved to Canada when he was 17. It didn't take long to become a truck driver. He worked at Steinbach Mills for 17 years then switched over to Hart Feeds and was there for around seven years. Dad met mom in 1975. They were married in Rosenort, May 29, 1976. The lived in Steinbach most of their lives. They moved to their country home in 1990. They loved it. Dad loved yard work, loved woodworking, feeding birds and gardening. During the summer, dad was rarely inside. When dad was inside, he loved playing games, putting puzzles together, making perogies and noodles. In the last several years, he started sewing. He made over 800 quilt tops.
Dad's faith in God was very strong, especially in the last several years. He loved reading his Bible. His faith was very important to him.
The funeral service was held on December 21, 2020.
