ANNE (HARRIET)
HENDERSON-THOMPSON
(nee MCFARLANE)

It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Anne December 18, 2020, from Covid-19, with her loving husband Doug by her side.
She was born November 26, 1931, to William and Elizabeth (Bessie) Mcfarlane. Anne was the last surviving child, predeceased by her sisters, Evelyn and Margaret (Reg); brothers, Gordon and Arnold; as well as her first husband Jack.
Left to mourn is husband Douglas Thompson; her three daughters, Jackie Henderson (Rick Ostapchuk), Jill Wolf (Manfred), Jodee Hansell (Claude); and one wanna be daughter, Bev Trachuk; stepson Doug (Tami) Thompson; and stepdaughters, Terri (Blake) Oliva, Stephanie (Greg) Berman and Stacy Speer; her special grandsons, Cameron (Theresa), Michael (Kristy) Basarab and Levi Speer; her great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Kalliegh, Evan and Ashton; as well as nieces and nephews; and extended family members.
Anne had a full life of fun. She was born and raised on the farm in Wellwood. On May 15, 1953 she married John (Jack) Henderson. His work had them reside in Manitoba towns such as Dauphin and Thompson, where they made lifelong friends, Knudson's and Mclnnes, which were more like family. Once settled in Transcona they were extremely active in the community. They enjoyed curling and were members of Transcona Golf for at least a decade if not two. More wonderful (crazy) memories and friendships were made.
Once the girls were all off to school her 21 year career with Federated Insurance began. Lots more great friends and parties. She retired July 30, 1992. Soon after she began her journey south to Arizona with sister Marge and brother-in-law Reg. A new snowbird was born. It was there she met her husband Douglas Thompson and they were married February 22, 2005. They enjoyed many winters at Rock Shadows and added amazing friendships to her list. She loved the cooking class and playing bridge. When traveling became too difficult they made Apache Junction their home and moved into Brookdale Assisted Living (with nephew Larry's help). The wonderful staff looked after her when we couldn't. This was her final resting place.
Due to Covid restrictions no formal service will be held. Donations may be made to the Salvation Army if desired.

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • Anne was a very special lady. She was a part of the McInnes family since 1961. Anne was always ready to have a laugh and have fun. Our families had many many good times together. I remember those bar-b-ques growing up when the adults got burgers, us kids got hot dogs! Whatever we did together was fun. Mom & Anne seemed like they were always laughing. So glad that she always remained a part of our life. Much laughter in heaven now I bet! Condolences and love to you all! Cindy McInnes - Posted by: Cindy McInnes (Friend/family) on: Jan 12, 2021

  • Anne was part of our family since we got to know her in 1961 in Thompson. She was a best friend to our Mom. She spent many hours and days with our family! We all enjoyed her being around. We were all very happy for her when her and Doug got together; they were made for each other! RIP Anne. You will be sorely missed! - Posted by: Jacquie Sivertson (Friend ) on: Jan 11, 2021

  • Anne was such a big part of our life - starting within days of our family moving to Thompson. We had so much fun with Anne! She would come out to Warren for a weekend of playing cards, charades - or just sunbathing in the backyard. Lots of great conversations over food and drinks. So many, many memories. Anne was one of our family and very much loved. We’ll miss her. - Posted by: Suzanne McInnes (Friend) on: Jan 09, 2021

  • Just got to know Anne over the last several years, she and Doug tried to return to the annual Gregg church service and picnic when they could. Always enjoyed the visits with them. - Posted by: Leigh McFarlane (Cousin) on: Jan 09, 2021

  • While not technically family, I cannot remember a time when Anne and her family were not part of my life. So, family most definitely. Quick with a quip or comment, Anne was always entertaining to be around. Her love of family, friends, and a good time were always apparent. She will be missed, but never forgotten. Rest In Peace Anne. - Posted by: Sandy McInnes (Family friend) on: Jan 09, 2021

  • My deepest condolences to this beautiful family. - Posted by: Terry Manthey (Friend of Jodee) on: Jan 09, 2021

  • Ann was a part of my life for many years. She was kind, caring and lots of fun to be around. When I lost my husband this fall she wanted to come back to Manitoba to look after me. I loved her and she felt the same way about me. My memories of time spend with her at Grand Beach, pickerel dinners in Winnipeg, precious phone calls and messages will always be remembered with love. Her daughters, grandsons and families will miss her but they too will hold their memories close. Rest In Peace Anne. - Posted by: Bev Trachuk (Wanna be daughter) on: Jan 09, 2021
