SYLVIA LENCHYSHYN

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Sylvia Rose Lenchyshyn (nee Chopyk), age 77, passed away on January 1, 2021, at Bethesda Regional Health Centre in Steinbach, MB.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Tracey (John Martin); sons, Tony (Lorie), Jamie and Jerry; grandchildren, Natasha Martin, Thomas Lenchyshyn (Ashtyn) and Jack Lenchyshyn; her brother Wilmar (Rita) Chopyk; sisters-in-law, Joanne (Julien Gerard), Sonya Lenchyshyn and Dianne Wallace; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Dennis Lenchyshyn (2015); son Gregory (1991); parents, William and Evelyn Chopyk; and sister Lucy in infancy; along with her
in-laws, Nellie and Tony Spilchuk, Tony and Alice Makodanski, Lawrence Lenchyshyn; and niece, Shelley Lenchyshyn.
Sylvia, or Sally as she was called by her family and friends, was born on October 11, 1943, the eldest of three children. She lived in Vita, MB, until her early teens, then her family moved to St. Norbert, MB. Sally finished school and went on to attend Success Business College in Winnipeg.
On August 8, 1964, she married Dennis Lenchyshyn. They settled on the family farm outside of Niverville, MB. It was there they raised their five children, including two sets of twins. In 1999, they moved to Mitchell, MB, then in 2011 to Steinbach, MB.
Sally was a loving mother who was deeply devoted to her family as they were her pride and joy. She always made time to call and check up on family and friends. Mom enjoyed vegetable gardening and was always awaiting the first tomato so she could give it away for good luck. She took great pride in her perennial gardens while on the farm and in Mitchell. While travelling to Phoenix, AZ, Sally really enjoyed visiting the Desert Botanical Gardens and seeing all the different vegetation. Sally was an avid sports fan with hockey being her favorite. She loved being a Hockey Mom (aka Sally Meeker) and later a Hockey Grandma.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Bethesda Regional Health Centre for the care and compassion Sally received.
Cremation has taken place and a private service was held at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish Cemetery in St. Norbert, MB.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to a charity of your choosing.
