SHIRLEY ANN PEABODY
1951 - 2021

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shirley Ann Peabody at the age of 69, of Winnipeg, Manitoba on January 7, 2021 at St. Boniface Hospital.
Shirley is survived by her husband Arnold, her daughter Crystal Hanley (Derek), and grandson Declan Liam.
Shirley was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to parents, George and Esther Lozinski, and was the only child. Shirley grew up in the Elmwood/East Kildonan neighbourhoods in Winnipeg and graduated from Miles MacDonell Collegiate. Shirley was told at 16 years old she would not live to be 21 due to heart complications, but she proved everybody wrong. She adopted her daughter Crystal in 1982. Crystal was Shirley's entire world. Shirley loved to upgrade her office and typing and computer skills. She worked at MTS as well as Manitoba Public Insurance where she worked with Brian Peabody who introduced her to the love of her life Arnold Peabody. Shirley and Arnold were married on June 21, 1997. Shirley loved to travel with Arnold. They travelled to such places as Egypt and Mexico. Shirley had many passions in her life, such as belly dancing where she performed in shows such as Folklorama, Tourism Manitoba and she also taught with her best friend Catherine Shearer.
Shirley also had a love of dogs. From adopting from a litter to rescuing more senior dogs, her home was always filled with lots of puppy love. She also took in and cared for her ailing mother Esther who sadly passed only a few years ago. Shirley loved her grandson and was so proud of him and the fine young man he was becoming. Shirley loved her family, they meant everything to her.
She will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

  • Crystal and family, words cannot express how deeply sorry I am for your loss. Your mom will always have a special place in my heart. • My deepest sympathies go out to Arnold, Chrystal and your family. I was very sorry to hear of Shirley’s passing. I knew Shirley though Belly dance where we danced together in the Gamaal Rawhany Belly dance troupe. I think back fondly of the Friday nights we spent together rehearsing and to the night I showed up to Shirley’s home for a “troupe meeting” only to find she was hosting a surprise leopard-print themed bridal shower for me. Shirley was a warm and lovely person and I feel very privileged to have had an opportunity to have known her. I am so sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Cheryllynn Saramaga-Martai (friend and dance troup member) on: Jan 15, 2021

  • I worked closely with Shirley Tardiff and Brian Peabody at MPI. Shirley was a very conscientious worker and, in spite of serious health problems, hardly ever missed a day. She will be missed as is her brother-in-law Brian. Both taken much too soon. Our thoughts are with you Arnold at this time of sorrow. - Posted by: Bill Coe (Coworker) on: Jan 09, 2021
