November 10, 1936 - January 10, 2021

Peacefully, Edith passed into eternity to be with her Lord on January 10, 2021, at the age of 84.
She will be missed by her children, Markus (Valdine), Andrea (Roland), and Helga; and grandchildren, Catherine and Jason.
She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Otto; her parents, August Branding and Frieda Kipp; and her brother Klaus Branding (Ingrid).
Edith was born in Bielefeld, Germany. She immigrated to Canada in April 1958 to join her fiancée Otto. They were married May 31, 1958 in Winnipeg.
After working as a seamstress in Germany, Edith flourished into the role of mother and homemaker. Edith enjoyed entertaining family, friends and foreign students in her home. She enjoyed playing the organ and singing hymns and German Folk songs. Edith and Otto sang in the choir at Evangelical Fellowship Chapel and in their later years with the Golden Echoes Senior Choir at Grant Memorial Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank the staff of West Park Manor and Meadowood Manor Personal Care Home for their kind and compassionate care of our mom. The family would also like to thank Dr. Chandran Baker, Pan Am Pain Clinic and Dr. Oliver Bereznay for their care.
Cremation has taken place and a private burial will take place at a future date.

"Count your Blessings, count them
one by one. Count your Blessings,
see what God has done."
As written in our Mom's personal
testimony, we give Praise and Glory
to our God for our Mom's precious life.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • My condolences to Ottmar, Andrea and Helga! Dorothee shared the news a while ago. I had no idea that your Mom was born in Bielefeld. I was born very close to there in a little town, Wadersloh, a year before she immigrated to Canada. I do not ever remember talking about that while I was in Winnipeg. Death is always hard but it is inevitable. It is so much more satisfying and comforting to know that the deceased was a follower of Jesus and is now with Him for all eternity. My father passed away in Sept. of 2017 and my mother in July of 2019. Their house sold last Nov. but we are still "mopping" up some things. So, it is now up to us to carry the torch learning from them and building our own legacies. And, then comes our turn. May our gracious God enable you all to end well and receive His "well, done" at the end of your lives! - Posted by: Martin Berger (former pastor, friend) on: Feb 07, 2021
