NANCY LOUISE PEARSON
1946 - 2020
She was born in Winnipeg and as a young woman loved singing and sang in various church choirs, the Winnipeg Girls Choir and the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir, as well as performing in musical theatre at the International Inn's Hollow Mug Theatre and the Rainbow Stage Theatre. At an early age Nancy developed a flare for the dramatic and she could toss a boa over her shoulder or toss a martini glass across the room with the best of them, so sometimes it was wise just to stay out of her way!
After graduating from nursing school, Nancy moved to Vancouver where she worked in the ER at the Vancouver General Hospital and over the years she travelled to England, Japan, Fiji and Australia, living and working as a nurse, an English teacher and a cook on a sheep ranch. She also continued singing and performing in various bands along the way. After moving back to Winnipeg, Nancy turned her attention to dogs and dog shows and while she was still working as a nurse, her real passion was pugs. She trained and showed her own dogs and bred championship pugs.
Nancy was faced with multiple health challenges in her 60s and her life as a nurse and a dog breeder shifted abruptly, forcing her to move into a long term care home at 67.
She is survived by her brothers, Dave (and Cathy) Anderson, Roger (and Sandy) Anderson, and her sister Kris Anderson (and Sheena Campbell). Nancy is also survived by one niece Janna Briggs-Anderson and two nephews, Riley and Carter Anderson, and their partners.
The family would like to thank Nancy's friend Lee, who was a great help to her when she first became ill. Thank you also to Linda Bretecher and the staff at Fred Douglas Lodge in Winnipeg.

Grant and I became involved with Pugs and met many people in our mid forties who were owner handlers and breeders to the present day. We sold Nancy Winston’s brother and visited her quite often. She lived down North in Winnipeg. I was also a Nurse but retired as of lymphedema many years ago. We always wondered when Nancy gave her Pugs away if she was ill. We still have a four year old Black Male Jude . He was not shown by our choice. I send our sympathies to her family and her friend Lee . Joan & Grant Hargrave and son Stephen . Bless you Nancy. - Posted by: Joan and Grant Hargrave (Friends) on: Jan 16, 2021
