SHIRLEY ANN HENAIRE
(nee AHOFF) (SUTHERLAND)
Shirley was predeceased by her husband John (Jean) Henaire (1999); her parents, Charles (1972) and Adele (2008) Ahoff; her ex-husband Marshall Sutherland (2002); as well as her best friend Pearl (2017).
Shirley lived life well and had many skills. She enjoyed multiple hobbies over the years, including ceramics, knitting and gardening. She was a dedicated employee and many of her work colleagues became lifelong friends, one of which was Pearl. Shirley enjoyed many Casino bus trips over the years with her mom, and while telling us all that it was just so Grandma could "get out", we all knew better. She loved to socialize, and during these trips she created many more memories and developed many lasting friendships. Above all, Shirley cherished her family, and her family is truly her greatest legacy. Though she grew up as an only child, Shirley was blessed with a large family whom she loved deeply.
She leaves her four children: Julie-Ann (Bob Schmidt), Gary, Darren (Lucy) and Charles (Monique Gauthier) and daughter in-law Dori-Lyn, as well as 10 grandchildren, her pride and joy: Robert, Curtis (Erica) and Jodee (Travis), Megan (Landon), Trevor (Keri) and Kayla (Ryan), Tyler (Carly), Leanne (Mark), Chantal (Jody) and Karl (Nicolle). She was also blessed with 22 great-grandchildren.
While Mom was not as healthy and mobile as she would have liked over the last few years, she was rarely alone. She enjoyed many conversations and visits with her home care workers, nurses, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as pointing out trivial news items on TV with June and Gary. All of this helped her stay alert and vibrant.
A special thank you to Dr. Salem, who cared for Shirley over the years and in whom she had complete trust.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Shirley's memory to St. John's Lutheran Church (Winnipeg) or CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.

She has been my lifeline for years, but more so since my cancer in the last year and a half. She has given me hope, and encouragement. I will miss her dearly. My condolences to all the family. - Posted by: Judy Walker (Good Friend for 35+ years) on: Jan 21, 2021

My condolences in the loss of your Mother, Grandmother. My mom (Marion) and I were part of the "foot party" group where we shared many fun afternoons visiting and eating over the years. Shirley always remembered us every Christmas and would drop off a little something for us, and although I didn't do much decorating at Christmas this year I did put out the last gift I received from her which was a little angel that lit up and a couple of Christmas fingertip towels. I know she will be missed dearly by everyone who knew her. - Posted by: Colleen Leclerc (Friend (Pearl's niece)) on: Jan 19, 2021

I was very sad to hear of Shirley's passing. I remember the strong friendship she shared with my Aunt Pearl. My mom (Marion) and I would often join them on the many casino bus trips over the years. The one thing I remember most about Shirley was that instead of sending Christmas cards, she would give you a gift bag containing a variety of small items from hand towels to crafts that she would find on sale throughout the year. I know she will be missed dearly by everyone who knew her. - Posted by: RoseAnn MacKinnon (Friend (Pearl's niece)) on: Jan 17, 2021

I was sorry to learn of Shirley's passing. I remember her and her parents as people of faith. Shirley was never opiniated, nor judgmental (a beautiful and rare quality) and I respected her for that. Rest in peace Shirley. I send condolences to all those you loved. - Posted by: Joanne Martin (acquaintance) on: Jan 16, 2021
