ROBERT STEPHEN MACYSHON
August 16, 1949 - January 13, 2021

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Macyshon. Bob died at home, peacefully surrounded by his loving wife, his daughters and his grandchildren.
Bob had a long career in television, spanning 30 years, at CKY-TV, now CTV Winnipeg and APTN. He was a respected TV director, working behind the scenes on many locally produced shows, sports and news programs. Bob was a valued colleague, friend and mentor to so many, but his greatest joy, always, was being a husband, father and grandfather.
Bob's family was everything to him and his legacy will live on in his wife of 49 years, Joy; his daughters, Jill (Gerard), Jody (Tony) and Jennifer (Brett). Bob dedicated the last years of his life to his grandchildren, spending his time as a caregiver, a personal driver, friend and confidant. He loved deeply and was deeply loved in return. He will be missed by Jane, Danika, Cy and Veronica.
Bob is survived by his sister Gail (Peter), brother Doug (Carmela) and his nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please give to your favourite charity.

  • It was a pleasure to work with Bob at CKY-TV in the ‘80’s and ‘90’s. He was kind, so helpful, an excellent director and above all....a gentleman. Bob truly enjoyed his position at CKY and treated everyone with respect. To Jill and all the family, I know that warm hearted memories will outshine your sadness in time. • I was saddened to hear of Bob’s passing. He produced “Home Works” in the late 80’s of which I was the co-host. He was always so much fun to work with and very helpful to this newbie who had little on air experience. It was clear from the tribute that he was truly loved. • I enjoyed working with Bob soooo much - we had a lot of fun in the control room back when! He was a very good Director with a sense of humour and a great deal of patience. My heart goes out to Joy and the family - take care of yourselves! - Posted by: Dianne T Garnett (co-worker at CKY) on: Jan 16, 2021

  • On behalf of the Grant Memorial Church community who was involved with the past Living Christmas Tree productions, I offer condolences and best prayers to your family. Bob was instrumental in championing a number of TV productions of our events and we were excited when the planning meetings at his studios in Polo Park were coming up. He was always so encouraging to our group and we had a wonderful time during the recordings. Thanks, Bob! - Posted by: Bill Rademaker (Friend) on: Jan 16, 2021
