Charley was a proud Winnipegger. He worked his entire career with Cargill Limited and was a proud member of their 25-year club. He counted many co-workers among his lifelong friends.
West Hawk Lake held a special significance for Charley and the entire Hendrikson family. He visited there as a boy with his parents Fred and Ida Hendrikson and met his future wife Violet at "the Lake." He was an avid boater, fisherman and outdoorsman and a big part of the Hendrikson family's life revolved around their West Hawk Lake cottage, built by Charley and his father in the late 1950s and renovated several times since. Charley was definitely the go-to for Block 6 historical reference.
Charley was also an avid supporter of Winnipeg sports teams. A loyal fan, he was a Blue Bombers season ticket holder for over 60 years, dating back to their heyday in the late 1950s. Charley was also an enthusiastic Jets supporter, going to games in the WHA era and holding season tickets for Jets 1.0, the Manitoba Moose and until recently, the current version of the NHL Jets.
Heartfelt appreciation goes to Charley's entire care team of doctors, nurses, and other dedicated professionals at Victoria General Hospital 4S Geriatric Rehab.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
