TRAVIS JOHN LIEN
1955 - 2021

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Travis John Lien. Travis passed on January 15, 2021, at Vancouver General Hospital, surrounded by his loving wife and three children.
Travis is survived by his cherished wife of 34 years, Diane, and their children, Meaghan, Maxine (Matthew) and Collin; his sisters, Elaine (Jake), Tidge (Jack), Linda (Harvey), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Travis was born in Teulon, Manitoba and enjoyed an outdoorsy childhood fishing and hunting with his father. He held a 45 year career at Standard Aero, moving up as Sales Manager for the western division of Canada and relocating his family out to Vancouver. Travis's warm and loyal nature led to many strong friendships among his coworkers and customers.
Travis was a history buff and avid reader who enjoyed a variety of topics, particularly the monthly National Geographic and Field & Stream magazines. A relaxing evening consisted of reading his latest novel while listening to jukebox oldies. A lover of all wildlife and a bird enthusiast, he could identify any bird upon sight or sound. A passion of late was tending to the care and well-being of Richmond's hummingbird population. He loved baseball and hockey. A loyal Canucks fan, he would eagerly look forward to hockey season, attending a few yearly games with his children.
Travis's greatest joy was his family. He took pleasure in long walks to Steveston Village and sharing a meal with his loved ones. The epitome of a morning person, he held a deep appreciation for life and valued the simple things. A gentle and patient man who always made time for his children, his wisdom, wit and humour will be sorely missed. From ski trips to games nights, he will live on in our memories and hearts forever.

  • I worked with Travis for many years at Standard Aero. Great guy and very funny. I also visited with Travis during a visit to the Vancouver service center. I supported the Vancouver service center for part repairs during some my years working at Standard Aero Winnipeg. My deepest condolences to the family and co-workers. - Posted by: Kevin McArdle (Co-worker) on: Jan 22, 2021

  • I grew up with Travis. We were in school in the same grade. We played baseball and football had many laughs. We started together at Standard Aero in 1974. We used to drive to work together. He loved to read even then; I gave him a Stephen King novel named Salem’s Lot. The story featured Vampires. He was so into the book he was afraid to outside at night. He was a fun friend going to miss him. My dearest condolences to his Family and friends. - Posted by: Doug McNabb (Childhood friend and Fellow Standard Aero Employee ) on: Jan 21, 2021
