MARGARET ANNE LONG
1928 - 2021

Margaret Long died on January 11, 2021, at the University of Alberta Hospital following a hip fracture. She was 92 years old.
Margaret was born Winnipeg, Manitoba. She grew up in Abbey, Saskatchewan, the second youngest of a family of four. As an adult she moved to Winnipeg and worked for General Theatre and Sound as office manager. Her relatives were occasionally treated to free movies, a perk of her job. She spent the majority of her life in Winnipeg. Due to declining health she moved to Edmonton during her final years to be closer to her niece and sister Betty.
Margaret was a people person and loved to socialize. She was the family historian. She was one of the original members of PEO Chapter "O" established in 1956 and held a variety of positions in this philanthropic organization for women. She remained a member until her death. Margaret had numerous friends in Winnipeg. She enjoyed crosswords and word search puzzles.
Margaret was predeceased by her brother Bill Long and sister Ruth Long. She is survived by her sister Betty Rankin of Edmonton and her sister-in-law Marguerite Long of Calgary. She is also survived by her niece, Marianne Rankin and her nephews, Melville Rankin, Brent, Bob, Doug and Craig Long.
Margaret's family is grateful for Margaret's close friend Gail Reid of Winnipeg. Gail was tremendously supportive and gave extensive assistance to Margaret, particularly during Margaret's last years in Winnipeg.
