EILEEN IBBOTT
July 22, 1924 - January 13, 2021
Eileen is survived by several nephews and nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, and great-great-nephews and great-great-nieces.
Eileen grew up in the North End of Winnipeg, the youngest of eight children. She worked for many years in the office at Johns Manville, transferring with the company to Vancouver. Eileen was a longtime member of the Sweet Adelines. She had a lovely tenor voice and sang in both quartets and in the Winnipeg chapter chorus and in the Lions Gate chapter chorus in Vancouver. She was active in her local Anglican church. She also devoted many hours to doing crafts, several pieces now being treasured mementos.
A decade ago Eileen returned to Manitoba to live in the same seniors' retirement home as her sister Marge, and was lovingly cared for by her nephew Bill and especially by his wife Kathy. Eileen spent the last two years of her life at a seniors' residence here in Winnipeg, primarily cared for by her niece Shirley and her husband Mark.
Eileen was a lovely lady, cheerful, sometimes feisty, kind, never-complaining, and gracious in expressing her thanks. We will miss her, but we have faith that one day we will see her again.
Due to current restrictions, a family graveside service will be held at a later date.
