With much sadness, I read belatedly today, of the news of Uwe's passing. I have been researching my husband's family for many years (besides my own). In 2017 whilst visiting cousins in Germany, I first learned of our Canadian Kraus connection. In 2018 I made contact with Uwe. Though our correspondence may have been brief, his assistance was much appreciated. To his family, we send our deepest condolences and hope that you all will hold many fond memories of him. It would be impossible not to want Uwe as a friend. He was kind, smart and engaging. He was a true gentleman and although we did not see him often we made sure to visit the Optimist Christmas tree lot every December for some conversation. Regardless of the time that passed between the last visit it always felt like we were just catching up from the day before. Uwe will be missed but he will certainly never be forgotten. - Posted by: Robin and Janet Graham (Friends) on: Jan 25, 2021

We are surprised and saddened to hear of Uwe's passing. We have many fond memories of Uwe, his infectious smile, times at the cottage, Christmas Eve's at Paul and Maria's, playing backgammon and being a guinea pig for his latest batch of home made beer. Our thoughts are with you all. Diane and Bill - Posted by: Diane & Bill Gillanders (Friend) on: Jan 23, 2021
