ROBERT (BOB) BESANT
Bob leaves behind to cherish and hold his memory, his loving wife, best friend and soul mate, Juanita. The care and love he felt for Juanita was never left unnoticed or unsaid.
Bob also leaves his stepsons, Brad Cass (Susie) and Dan Cass (Laura), his daughter Tracy and granddaughter Emily. Also grieving this tremendous loss is Bob's brother David and sister-in-law Cindy, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Louis and Catherine, sister Patricia and brother James.
Bob was born and raised in St. Boniface, attending Provencher School. Bob worked in Winnipeg until moving to the United States about 40 years ago. Eventually Bob made his home in California where he met and married Juanita. Bob and Juanita continued living and working there until moving to Boulder City, Nevada in 2008, where they settled into their retirement life. Many new friendships and bonds were formed with all their neighbours in the retirement community.
Although Bob lived in the United States, he and Juanita always made a point of returning to Canada to attend special events or to just kick back and visit with family and friends. Bob's bigger than life presence lit up every room. His personality and his outgoing confidence to live life on his terms was a magnet to the young and old alike. Laughter always grew louder as the evenings grew later, leaving each person with lasting memories.
Bob loved reminiscing about days gone by. Throughout his life, Bob continued to stay in touch with childhood friends, friends he met along his life journey and of course his close family as well as his extended family. He enjoyed his banters through social media or verbally, just to get a rise out of people, knowing each comment would always conclude with a laugh. Bob had a huge array of lifelong friends throughout Canada and the United States, each will miss him immensely.
The sudden and untimely loss of someone so much a part of our lives, has left all of us with an empty and saddened feeling. Today, memories are painful; tomorrow, those memories will bring a smile to our face and a warmth to our healing heart.
We miss you Bob, we love you,
we will see you again; just around the corner.

Met Bob many years ago at my neighbors house, Dave and Ellen Sheltons. Over a time spanning several decades, I was fortunate enough to be in his company on Lake trips, dances and house parties. Always a smile, a joke and an upbeat personality. The kind of guy you seek out to hang with. I loved the way he was so genuine about life. Will miss knowing he is on this planet, but know he's partying somewhere fun. My love to Juanita and family. - Posted by: Mary Kay Hemming (Friend) on: Jan 26, 2021

Sad to hear of Bob's passing. We worked together briefly at the Bank of Montreal in Yorkton in the late 70's. Bob was one of a kind. The stories of that time are still told by me to this day. I have never laughed so hard since our time together. My condolences to his family. . - Posted by: Joe Maguire (Friend) on: Jan 25, 2021

My memory of Bob goes back many years as class mate, close neighbor and friend. At around age 10 my somewhat boxing manager arranged a fight between us. The fight was declared a draw. Kids did that stuff in st. Boniface in the 50,s In 2019, after 50 or more years, social media brought us back in touch bantering about politics and years past memories. Good fun. Over a couple of cold ones, in Edmonton that summer of 2019, we again reminenced about history and where we were in life today. We left that day making plans to reunite when Bob drove through western Canada the following year. Covid 19 changed that plan. I was and remain shocked over Bob's passing. My deepest sympathy and condolences go out to his family and his friends. I have to be honest. Bob won the fight. - Posted by: Ron De Clercq (Friend) on: Jan 24, 2021

To Juanita and family, Bob's daughter Tracy and granddaughter Emily, Brother David and family. Please accept our sincere condolences on unexpected and sudden passing of Bob. I was raised in St Boniface and in the same neighbourhood as Bob. I knew Bob and the Besant Family from the school years and we shared some of the same friends. We were able to visit With Bob and Juanita when they came to town on many of their motorhome adventures. The last being in the summer of 2019 at the Belgium Club for a social gathering of friends and yes the reminiscing of days gone by and laughter continued. Sadly a life lost to young with so much to live for Lou & Diane Asselin - Posted by: lou asselin (friend) on: Jan 23, 2021
