JOHN (IAN) STEPHENSON MCWATT
For those fortunate to call Ian "friend," "Grandpa" or to have him as a father figure, he shared a kind heart and insightful conversation. Ian was a humble teacher to many - generously sharing his skills and encouragement. He was well respected for his mastery of carpentry and honed many talents - photography, electronics, computers, coding, graphic design, gardening, stained glass, painting, bonsai and more. As an avid reader, Ian enjoyed science fiction, trivia and his daily crossword at Robin's.
For 40 years, Ian and Joan shared their lives in St. James. Ian will be greatly missed by Joan; Ian's children and their spouses, (Sean/Stephanie, Susan/Ryan), his grandsons, (Spencer/Stuart, August/Raleigh); Joan's children and their spouses, (Valerie/Marianne, Brent, Scott/Marion, Judy/Armando) and her grandchildren and their spouses. Ian shared a special bond with his grandson Evan and valued his close friends, Bob and Sandra.
The family extends a sincere thank you to Ian's caring team at Oakview Place.
A Celebration of Life in Ian's honour will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Craig Street Cats.
Condolences may be sent to

I worked with Ian many years ago and got thinking of him today. He was like a mentor to those who worked with him. Very nice guy learned a lot from him. I will always hold him very fondly in my memory. Rest easy… - Posted by: Gordon Fendley (Friend/co-worker) on: Oct 10, 2024
