KENNETH RICHARD DELANEY
(KEN) (DELANEY)
December 19, 1943 - January 4, 2021
Born on December 19, 1943, in Glasgow, Scotland, and immigrated to Canada with his parents when he was four years old.
He is survived by his daughter Tammy Raaflaub (Mark); sisters, Linda Kennedy (Bill), Sandra Thomas and soul sister Vone Evans Deporter (Denny and son Kylen); along with his grandchildren: Damien, Taylor, Michael and Cody. Also his dearest friend Brenda along with numerous close friends here in Winnipeg and California who he was deeply fond of and considered family. Ken was predeceased by his eldest daughter Tara.
Ken went on achieving a degree in mathematics and spent his early career in sales with Motorways Transport. While grateful for the friendships he made during his career, Ken opted later to honour his free spirit by managing the Village Garden Centre seasonally and spending six months a year with his sisters, Linda and Vone, in California. Ken had a love for cats his entire life and will forever be missed by his little buddy Reese. Ken was a favourite friend to many, he was the kindest of souls, with a loving and generous spirit that will be greatly missed.
Our family would like to express our love and how truly grateful we are to one of dad's dearest friends for her selfless act and the unbelievable love you gave to dad in his final days.
As per dad's wishes cremation has taken place.

Ken was the best pool player I ever met and played against, he was the reason I put a pool table in my basement. Our 50 year relationship always ended up around a table. I never got to show him my lake cottage since moving back from Vancouver which was unfortunate as his second hobby was fishing. I feel robbed and will miss him until I pass on...lost my best friend. - Posted by: Gerry Webb (Friend) on: Feb 28, 2021

I first met Ken in Thompson, where he showed me how to snare rabbits, brew root beer, and fish in the Burntwood river. This was the start of a friendship that lasted through the "halls of academe" and after as our lives developed. Ken attracted large circles of friends with his ability to bring out the best in others. His distinctive laugh would indicate his location in even the largest of rooms, and often showed his pleasure with a simple joke, or even his amazement at or observation of the foibles of society or humanity. My condolences to all who knew Ken. - Posted by: Dave Chaddock (Chad) (Friend) on: Feb 01, 2021

I first met Ken and his sister Sandra in the one room school house (literally in a house) in the new town of Thompson in February of 1959. Ken was the oldest kid in the school and was the only one in his grade and we all sort of looked up to him. He also ran the movie projector for the Saturday movie, also in a house at that time. We would occasionally cross paths when I was in first year at the University of Manitoba and he was in his third year. I last saw Ken in 2003 when his soul sister Vone came to Winnipeg for a visit and we all met up for lunch with other former Thompson "kids" Wayne Leblanc, Jerry Stunick and Dave Chaddock. Ken's easy going manner and great sense of humour never changed. - Posted by: John Williams (Friend) on: Jan 23, 2021

Friends with Ken for a 40 plus years, I'll miss the intelligent conversations, his love of Cats, Ken's "babysitting" Hershey, Misty, Nermal, Bert and Bernie, and most recently Sandy, Mischa and his favorite Reece(peanut butter cup). Ken was always there for me, looking after the cats, the house and the Garden centre in summers past, Ken will be missed and never forgotten.. - Posted by: Stanley Gary (Friend) on: Jan 23, 2021

Ken and I met when I was in my early teens. Along with Ken were close friends Vone, Regina, Butch, Greg and some others - we became close friends and compardres so much so to this day I have never forgotten those cherished moments of being together. Ken was witty, charming, very smart, and just a joy to be with. Seeing his obit today caused my heart to sink - itβs so sad - I regret not knowing he was in the City. To all of you who stayed close to Ken and experienced his friendship you can cherish that forever. He will be missed a lot. - Posted by: Brian Evans (Friend) on: Jan 23, 2021
