ERNEST (ERNIE) THOMAS FAGG
1930 - 2021
Ernie was predeceased by his wife Paula Fagg (Beischer) (2017), brother Brian (1998), parents, Wilfred E. Fagg (1951) and Winifred E. Fagg (Savage) (1980). Ernie is survived by his sister Ann Mitchell (Arthur) of England; daughters, Michele (Mike), Susanne (David) and granddaughter Sofie (Susanne) of Winnipeg; niece Gillian (Christopher), their children, Jennie and Rosie; and niece Christine (Andrew) and their children, Ashley and Aidan, all of England.
Born in Middlesex, Ernie grew up in the Hornsey area of north London. As a young child during the Second World War, he was evacuated to the country in 1939 for seven months and shared many stories of the The Blitz and life after. This led to a lifelong interest in military history.
Ernie joined the British Army in 1948 and apprenticed as a sign painter. His creative talents served him well and he went on after the army to work as a successful sign and mural painter in both London and Winnipeg. He immigrated to Canada in 1964 and soon after met Paula. They were married in 1966 and had two children, Michele and Susanne. In England, in the 1950s and 1960s, and later in Winnipeg, Ernie was involved in the theatre. He participated in several MTC productions in various roles as actor, camera work and set design. Ernie truly cherished his time with the theatre and the friendships he made. Another passion of Ernie's was music, especially "Prog Rock". He loved Pink Floyd, Supertramp, Emerson, Lake and Palmer and many more. He never outgrew his love for music or the arts.
Ernie went on to work for 25 years as Branch Manager of Western Display, supporting trade shows, conventions and entertainment events at the Convention Centre, Red River Exhibition, and various locations throughout the province. Ernie left a lasting impression with all those who were fortunate enough to work with him. He truly cherished the memories he made over the years with such a variety of people.
In retirement, he enjoyed his garden, painting, and quiet time at home with his family.
No funeral service will be held at this time.
We would like to thank the staff at Victoria Hospital, for all their care and concern. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation, 2340 Pembina Highway, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada R3T 2E8, or a charity of your choice.

Am so sorry to learn of your Dad's passing. He and your Mom were great neighbours and it was for sure my pleasure to know both of them. Ernie's involvement over many years in the Norwood Art Show was an expression of his passion for painting. He was always so approachable and cheerful. I know he will be missed by his many friends. - Posted by: Linda Stewart (Neighbour) on: Feb 06, 2021

Michele & Susanne - my sincere condolences to you on the passing of your dad, Ernie. I did not know your dad very well; however, Ernie was a true gentleman and a very kind person. Will be thinking of you and your families in the coming difficult days. Take care and stay well.
