GORDON WAYNE JOHNSON

Peacefully on February 2, 2021, Gordon Wayne Johnson of Clandeboye, MB passed away at Selkirk Regional Hospital.
Gordon leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife and best friend Glenna (Kells); his children, Kristin (Geoff), Scott (Karla), Kevin (Kim), Jennifer (Graham), Ben (Sarah) and nine grandchildren. He is survived by his siblings, Bev (Bill), Shelley, Neil (Laura), Edna, Brenda, Art (Colleen) and Tracey (Rick); half-brother Edwin; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Gordon was predeceased by his parents, Edwin and Anna (nee Sigurdson) and his sister Tishy (Patricia).
Born in Gimli, Gordon's drive, energy and sense of adventure led him through a variety of careers - his favourite being aviation. Gordon's flying career spanned 40 years and took him across the country and around the world. He made many great and memorable friendships along the way.
The family would like to express a deep heartfelt thank you to medical staff Ward 2 Selkirk Regional Hospital and Dr. S. Prematilake for their consideration and compassion during Gordon's last days.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place with plans for a Celebration of Life to be held at a future date.

"To be someone's first love is special,
but to be their last is priceless."

  • My condolences Glenna and the rest of the Johnson family. I wish we would have been able to meet properly and see him off. He was always so good to show up at all our family anniversaries and to see my Mom and Dad and Leslie off after their passing. I would have liked to return the favour this one last time. All the best to all those he left behind and Goodbye Gord. - Posted by: Paul McIntosh (friend) on: Feb 23, 2021

  • My sincerest condolences to you and the family, Glenna! People still mention the Chicken Chef in Red Lake and how they miss the good food and friendly environment when going out for coffee in the evening. I for one, will never forget the wild and busy times cooking alongside one man who had the stamina, grace, discipline, yet jovial side to always make you laugh while you wiped the sweat off your brow! What a guy!! REST IN PEACE GORD! - Posted by: Patricia Reynolds (Employee/friend) on: Feb 07, 2021

  • I spent 2 wonderful weeks with Glenna and Gord in Red Lake. Gord was my kind of people. No B.S. but most kind. Glenna would always tell me the stories of his escapades when we talked on the phone. Its just sad that I lived so far away. • To the Johnson Family, Our most sincere condolences on Gordie's passing. Anna and I were Wood St. friends. Ron still repeats some of the Eddy Johnson stories from the past. Davey was a good friend of our kids and kept in touch with us over the years. Tracey and Tishy used to babysit for us; and we still see Art and Colleen around LdB. Before moving just down the road, the Johnson Family lived in the house we eventually bought; so there always seemed to be a family connection. Our heartfelt sympathies to all of you. Sincerely, Jan and Ron Hoffman - Posted by: Ron and Jan Hoffman (Neighbours and Friends) on: Feb 06, 2021
