RUDOLF (RUDY) REMPEL
March 11, 1943 - February 1, 2021

Rudy passed away at the Grace Hospital on the afternoon of February 1, 2021, physically comforted by the fine spiritual care provider, Jennifer and Dr. Gloria and surrounded by his five siblings on a video call, with goodbyes, Scripture and music to release him to the arms of Jesus.
Rudy was the first of six children born to Peter and Mary Rempel. The early years of his life were spent in Grunthal, Manitoba, but the family moved to Winnipeg when he was seven and he has lived in Winnipeg for the rest of his life, except for a short stay in BC in the late 1960s. Rudy was fond of vehicles and acquired quite a collection of model cars and planes that he assembled. Nieces and nephews were very impressed with his display and enjoyed playing in his room. Rudy spent his early years employed at various tasks in service stations. He spent many of his later years working as a conscientious security guard.
Rudy's faith was important to him and he was a faithful member at the Christian Life Assembly. A few days before his passing he stated he was eager to go home to Jesus. Rudy was gentle, soft-hearted, trusting and generous to a fault. He loved children and animals. He was a willing babysitter to several young children, whose pictures he loved to carry around with him and show to family and friends. A favourite companion was the dog that accompanied him on his rounds as security guard. In his last six years he lived at Arlington House, where he willingly led prayers of thanks at mealtime. He developed many friendships there, enjoyed the social interaction and participated in its Bible study groups.
Rudy was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Mary Rempel, two brothers-in-law, Dietrich Warkentin and Edd Funk. He is survived by sisters, Mary Funk, Betty (Arno) Jansen, Susan Warkentin and Elsie (Peter) Rempel; brother Peter Rempel, and many nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rudy's memory may be made to Diabetes Canada.
