CLIFFORD GARRY HARES
March 13, 1935 - February 3, 2021

It is with heavy hearts and tremendous sadness that we announce Garry's peaceful passing on February 3, 2021 at Riverview Health Centre (Palliative Care Unit).
He will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by Beverley, his wife of 58 years; his daughters, Candace (Michael) and Dianna; and his sons, Garry and Brian. Also left to mourn his passing are his beloved grandchildren, Brett, Shane and Abby. Garry is also survived by his sister Marcia Bemi and his brother Jack. Garry was predeceased by his parents, Clifford and Grace Hares; his brother Ron and his nephew Ken.
Garry grew up in the North End of Winnipeg. He attended Champlain, Luxton and St. Johns High School. In 1995, Garry retired from C.P. Rail and he and Bev decided to enjoy to the fullest their property in Ponemah so they renovated their cottage and made a wonderful home, always welcoming to family and friends. Throughout his life, Garry made many lasting friendships. To name a few, Barry, George, Leo, Leroy, Don, Dick, Al, Darcy, Andy and Arnold.
Garry had always been a sports enthusiast. As a young man, Garry was quite the soccer player and he so enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids play his favourite game. He also learned to love the game of hockey through watching his grandsons and granddaughter play over the years. In later years, Garry became an avid golfer and along with his pal Don Butcher, he spent many happy hours at the Teulon Golf Course.
In 2010, Garry and Bev moved back to Winnipeg and took up residence at 65 Paget Street. It didn't take Garry long to make new friends, as he was dubbed "Mayor of the Patio".
The family wishes to express their appreciation and thanks to Dr. Russell Albak, Garry's physician for over 30 years, as well as the caring staff on the palliative ward at Riverview.
Cremation has taken place. Due to COVID restrictions, there will be no formal service. The family plans to hold a private celebration of his life at a later date.
Flowers gratefully declined.
