OLGA van DAM
Mom was born in Austria during the middle of the Second World War. She moved to Africa with her three children in 1974, where she met and married her husband, Jack. After four years, they took the brave step and immigrated to Canada, arriving in Winnipeg in 1978. In her 30s, mom learned a new language and embraced a new culture. She worked extremely hard her entire life to support her family and to create a better life for her children.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Jack in 2014 and will be dearly missed by her children, Heidi (Brad), Thomas (Suzanne) and Birgit (Matt). We will forever cherish the memories of moments we shared with mom, wishing we had been granted the time to make more.
In her spare time, mom was always happy to have a visit with family and friends, enjoying a good cup of coffee and a delicious piece of cake. Not only was she a fantastic cook and baker, mom was also an incredibly kind-hearted, generous, loving person who saw the best in people.
Mom's greatest joy came from spending time with her four beloved grandchildren, Kristin (Nelson), Brayden, Emily and Rowan. Her goofy sense of humour combined with her heavy Austrian accent created many giggly moments for each of them. She was quick to hug and praise her grandchildren at every opportunity. Mom will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all those whose lives she touched.
A private interment was held on Friday, February 12.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the Arthritis Society.
