GEOFF DUGAN
June 2, 1963 - February 8, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Geoff Dugan. Geoff passed at home surrounded by the love of his family.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Karen; daughters, Courtney (Sam) and Hillary; brother Terry (Joyce); sister Sherry (predeceased by Andy); and brother Rod (Therese); along with aunts, numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and a multitude of friends. He was predeceased by his father Herb and mother Betty.
Geoff sparked joy and laughter in the lives of many. He grew up in Westwood and attended Bedson, Sansome and Westwood Collegiate (1982). He was deeply passionate about football and played at every level, including as a proud member of the Winnipeg Rods. This love of football made him a devoted Winnipeg Blue Bomber fan, and he was happy to see them bring home the cup once more in 2019.
In high school, Geoff met the love of his life. They married in 1987 and went on to have two beautiful daughters. He was a caring, hands-on dad who loved coaching the girls in soccer. He never missed a concert or game that the girls were in.
Geoff spent the majority of his career as a Warehouse Regional Manager, but decided to take an early retirement and a job with Birchwood Motors as a shuttle driver. He made many great friends with his work buddies and will be sorely missed by them all.
Geoff loved to travel with his family and was fortunate to visit many of his dream destinations in the Caribbean and Europe, including his family's homeland of Ireland. His happy place was the family cottage at Lake of Two Mountains, where he made many great memories with family and friends. He loved to fish, listen to music by the fire, and cruise the lake on his pontoon boat. He will forever be known by family and friends as "The King of Two Mountains".
We would like to thank all the staff of 2S at the Grace Hospital for their care and support.
A celebration of Geoff's life will be arranged when it is safe to do so.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to K9 Advocates Manitoba, so that everyone can find their "Mojo".

  • Dear Karen, I am so sorry to hear that your husband passed away. I can't imagine your heartache or the sadness that your girls are feeling. Know that he will be watching over all of you. Thinking of you Sincerely, Sue McTavish - Posted by: Sue McTavish (worked with Karen) on: Feb 25, 2021

  • Was very sorry to hear of Geoff's passing. Hadn't seen him for many years since high school days, but we were Facebook friends. He always seemed to be living life to the fullest in his Facebook pictures and posts, and it always made me smile to see him having fun and laughing, just like I remembered him. My condolences to his family. - Posted by: Jeff Butler (Friend) on: Feb 18, 2021

  • It is with deep sadness that I heard of Geoff's passing. I only knew him for a few years but, like everyone else, considered him a good friend. Geoff was one of those special people who seemed to light up the room when he came in. He was one of the few Birchwood shuttle drivers who provided humour and levity to the sometimes mundane hours at the office. He will be sorely missed by all the shuttle gang. My condolences go out to his family in this very trying time. - Posted by: George Sykes (Friend and co-worker) on: Feb 18, 2021

  • My condolences to Geoff's family and friends. It's been many years since we last talked and only recently reconnected through Facebook. Geoff played on the St. James Cobras and was one of "my guys" as I was their athletic therapist. I will always remember his laugh and wicked sense of humour. He was one of the good guys, that is for sure. - Posted by: Corina (Cori) Mark (Old friend) on: Feb 15, 2021

  • Dear Karen, I was so sad in hearing of Geoff’s passing. I will miss our yearly dock visits, and Geoff’s humour and laugh, he had such a wonderful soul. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. Cherish the memories, he will always be with you. Hugs. Linda (Teague) - Posted by: Linda Casson (Friend) on: Feb 15, 2021

  • My wholehearted condolences to the family. We will all feel the loss of a member of the community at Lake of Two Mountains, and I hope that by the spring or summer we will be able to meet there so that I can offer my sympathy at the place that has been so important to so many of us for so long. - Posted by: Tommy Kucera (Lake of Two Mountains) on: Feb 14, 2021

  • Geoff was high school buddy and friend. Lost touch over the years but lots of fun and great memories from days growing up together at Westwood in Wpg. Geoff and Karen bought my mom and dad's house on Sansome ave and I have driven by many times wondering what they are up to. Sorry now I did not stop. Karen if you and your family get this my thoughts are with you and your loss. RIP my friend - Posted by: Scott Dickson (Friend ) on: Feb 14, 2021

  • It is with a great sadness that I hear of Geoff’s passing. It seems that I have known Geoff for a lifetime...a neighbour, a friend, a Saturday afternoon drinking partner, and of course a wonderful husband to my dear Karen. He will leave me with many fond memories and laughs. My heart breaks for my sweet Karen, who was the love of Geoff’s life from the early age of 16. My thoughts are with you Karen, Courtney and Hillary as you heal from this. - Posted by: Lori Murdock (Devlin) (Friend) on: Feb 13, 2021

  • My thoughts and prayers are with Karen and Courtney and Hillary and Family and Friends. I grew up with Geoff and he was a kind, gentle, excellent humour that always kept a smile on us. I remember when he met Karen, she was the love of his life. He always put her thoughts before his and was a true Gentleman always. Our group always had fun together from football games to Toga parties to Weddings to Baby Birthday parties. He will always be in my heart with his family.
