FREDRICK BRUCE WEIDMAN

A carpenter, a mechanic, a blacksmith, Fredrick Bruce Weidman (Foots), was all of these and more. He was a loving husband to his wife Eva for 46 years, and a companion in every way. He was dad to his children, Amber and Walter, and a father figure to many others who needed one. His life's passion lay in the roar of a motorcycle engine, and he spent many happy years riding through the mountains with his brothers, Alvin and Jim.
He leaves to mourn his wife Eva, daughter Amber, son Walter, and his two "little wieners" (granddaughters), Marcella and Maya. Joining in our grief are his brothers, Alvin and Jim (Carol), sister Judy (Lloyd), and brothers-in-law John, Thomas (Eileen), Patrick (Carol). His nieces and nephews each shared years of laughs and adventures with him, and it is with his nephew "Bear" (David) that he will be flown over and returned on his final journey, to the land he so loved at the family farm in Starbuck.
Foots was a friend you would call to fix your brakes or have your back. He made friends for life and they will share in our grief.
No service will be held at this time, but a gathering will be held this summer at the family farm to send him on his final ride.
In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Habitat for Humanity.
Foots, we had 48 years of love and arguing and adventures. You gave me the gift of love everyday and I will miss your laugh for the rest of my days.

  • I will share a little story that is forever etched in my memory and reminiscent of the kind of guy Foots was....genuinely great man! I was coming home from work one very rainy day around 1991 and looked over to see this guy riding a motorcycle with a rocking horse draped across the seat. I thought what in the world...who would be riding a bike today, of all days, let alone trying to manoeuvre in and out of traffic on Vancouver Island in this rain with a rocking horse strapped on his bike....what kind of guy, Foots Weidman!! He was heading to our home in Lantzville, to present our son, Cristian, who would have been just over a year old at that time, with a gift of a handmade rocking horse, made of course by Foots..... Lovely, truly kind hearted guy....you will be dearly missed! - Posted by: Mark & Lea Kaiser (friends) on: Oct 27, 2021

  • I’m so sorry to hear about Foots. Eva, I was telling the story about when you and I were doing dishes at the motel and he came in the back door with supplies when the gallon of salad dressing dropped and exploded all over. We both sort of peaked over our shoulder and you said to me under your breath “laugh and you die”. That was one of the best jobs I had in my entire life. We worked hard but had so many laughs. My heartfelt condolences to you, Amber, Walter, the grands, extended family and friends. Ride in paradise Foots. - Posted by: Charlene Gladue (Friend) on: Feb 25, 2021

  • In the short time I knew Foots, I respected him and looked up to him as someone who calmly dealt with whatever life presented. We, Eva’s friends, knew he would always take care of her and his family. I’m so sorry for your loss, Eva. - Posted by: Sharon Emilson (Friend) on: Feb 15, 2021
