CARLEY THOMSON
Carley was born on February 12, 1928. She married Ian Thomson on October 5, 1974.
She served in the Canadian Forces and was a 75 year Legion member and was always actively involved in her community and was a very social individual. She loved meeting and visiting with people especially over good food. During her retirement years, she remained active in many ways. She not only achieved her goal of overcoming her fear of public speaking, but went from participating in her local Toastmasters club to eventually becoming president, mentoring new clubs, the list goes on... Carley was also a member of the Red Hats Society enjoying the many luncheons and connections. She was also president of her apartment block for many years where she truly enjoyed writing monthly newsletters as well as planning events such as coffee parties, all in order to provide opportunities for socializing and to create a sense of community among all the tenants in the block.
Carley also had many hobbies. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cribbage, watching sports (curling, football and hockey). She and Ian enjoyed many adventures and travelling in their retirement. In later years, they enjoyed spending their winters on Salt Spring Island, BC with their daughter Carol-Anna.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, David and Carol-Anna Souchereau, granddaughter Kelsey (Max), and great-grandson Cash. She considered Ian's son as her own so also left to cherish her memory are Ian's son Ian Robert Thomson (Leah Janzen), and grandchildren, Alec and Vanessa. She was predeceased by husband Ian, as well as sons, Kelly and Kenny.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a possible Celebration of Life will take place at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your local Legion.

My step-mom Carley was a remarkable person who I loved and respected. She was indomitable. She faced many, many challenges in life and met them all with courage and grace. She never gave in to pain and managed to stay busy, active and optimistic for her entire life. My wife Leah and our children Alec and Vanessa were very fond of her as well. We'll miss her greatly and will always regret that we were separated from her by the pandemic during her last days. We are comforted by the fact that she retained her independence, spirit and remarkable intellect throughout her long and active life. Our deep condolences go out to David, Carol-Anna and Kelsey. - Posted by: Ian R. Thomson (Step-son) on: Feb 20, 2021

Please accept my sincere condolences on your mother’s passing. I spoke to her just after New Year’s Day and we had a lovely conversation about recollections of my late mother and father and your father Ian. I would call your mum every couple of months and we had hoped to get together for a coffee once COVID19 was a thing of the past. She was a wonderful person and a great conversationalist. I will miss our little talks on the phone. - Posted by: Leonard Offrowich (Acquaintance) on: Feb 13, 2021
