JEFFREY ALLAN FAWKES
1942 - 2021
He leaves behind his wife Sharon of 53 years; children, Brent (Heidi), Brian (Crystal) and Brenda (Nancy); as well as his beloved grandsons, Eric, Matthew, Nathan and Joel.
He was born to Claude and Doris Fawkes in Cardinal, Ontario, and raised with his brother Doug and sister Joan in and around Kingston.
Married in 1967, Jeff and Sharon moved to Manitoba while a member of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Following his time with the R.C.A.F., he owned and operated a successful painting and decorating business for over fifteen years. For the last twenty years of his career, he worked for the painting and glazing department of Winnipeg (1) School Division. Jeff will be remembered for his life of hard work, expertise in repair and stringent care of home, workshop and vehicles. He loved to teach his children and grandchildren the value of hard work and a job well done.
There wasn't anything that Jeff wouldn't take on to support his family, friends or neighbours, and he was always available to help in a tough situation with the right expertise and tools. He retired in 2004, and enjoyed working in his shop and spending time with family.
Jeff cherished time with his children and grandchildren, and would always ensure there was a stop at their favourite place for a treat. His greatest joy was reflecting on kid's and grandkid's accomplishments and never hesitated to tell anyone that would listen. Until recently, Jeff enjoyed many a trip on his motorcycle, long drives on the highway, and extensive travelling with Sharon. He was a generous person that truly felt it better to give than receive. Jeff was always grateful for the support of Sharon, and considered himself lucky to have such a loving lifelong relationship with her. This was particularly evident in the last few years during his declining health.
Due to Covid restrictions, a small private family ceremony was held.
We wish to thank all the supportive neighbours on Copperwood Court, the palliative care staff of St. Boniface Hospital, CancerCare, and Rev. Dr. Loraine MacKenzie Shepherd.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface Cardiac Centre, CancerCare Manitoba, or to a charity of your choice.
