ROSE MARIE TROUGHTON
(nee HOWELL)
Rose was predeceased by her husband Edward (Hampton) Troughton (1975); and her parents, Walter (1926) and Cora (Marshall) (1988).
Her passing is mourned by her son Don of Calgary, Alberta and her daughter Linda (John) Tomes of Winnipeg, Manitoba, as well as her three grandchildren, Chris (Kiera), Jason (Gina) and Amanda (Jeff Ewart). She was also blessed with three wonderful great-grand children, Megan, Addison, and Jack.
Rose was like many women she cherished her family and made a loving home for them. She also worked outside the home at T. Eaton's full time in the yard goods/fabric department. She was a dedicated employee and many of her work colleagues became her lifelong friends, Edith Day, May Boyd and Irene Allan. She also belonged to the Rebekah's, a women's service club. She was a past Noble Grand of the Olive Branch Historic Rebekah Lodge No 1.
After her husband's passing in 1975, Rose got the travel bug and each year she and one of her widow work friends would take a trip. Whether it was Mexico, Hawaii, Bahamas, US mid-west, Nashville, Australia, New Zealand, the UK or Europe - she loved it all and enjoyed the camaraderie of her travel companions.
When she retired in 1983, she happily started her next career - child sitting her grandchildren.
Entering the last four and one-half years of her life, Rose was not as healthy or mobile as she would have like. It was then that she went to live with her son Don in Calgary.
Rose was buried Friday, February 19, 2021 at Winnipeg's Chapel Lawn. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only the immediate family was in attendance at her grave side funeral service.
