WALTER WYCHNENKO
1940 - 2021
Walter was predeceased by his parents: Jarey and Dora, and his brother Peter.
He will be remembered by his wife Noella, children, Michelle (Daryl), Gina (Gino), Tracey (Gary), Pam (Byron) and Trevor (Mirielle); also his grandchildren, Brittney, Andrew, Riley, Gabriella, Lucas, Roan, Katie, Casey, and his only great-grandchild Hudson.
Walter worked most of his adult life at CN Rail and retired in 1995. He was a weather enthusiast and was always able to predict the yearly weather based on his onion. Walter refereed hockey for many years and played baseball in his community. His favourite pastime was summer and winter street hockey with his children and grandchildren. The goalie nets were always the perfect pile of snow or sticks. He enjoyed working in the garden, walking, and daily visits with his furry friend Sasha.
The family would like to thank the staff of 6A West at the St. Boniface Hospital for their outstanding care.
Due to COVID-19 no funeral service will be held at this time. A private family memorial gathering will be held at a later date.

I am very sorry to hear of Mr Wychnenko’s passing. Pam you are in my thoughts and Prayers. I have tons of good memories spending time with your family and occasionally having your dad drive us around. I am pretty sure he even let you use the truck to go shopping a few times. I can’t seem to recall if we had a license though..... - Posted by: Christine McLennan (nee Henry) (Friend) on: Feb 20, 2021

My deepest sympathies to you, Noella, and to your children and extended family . May you find comfort and solace in each other and in those who surround you during these difficult days ahead. May Wally's memory live long and healthy in the family stories that you will tell and retell. Walter and I sort of grew up together in Steinbach. I was very involved in hockey as a sports writer and Walter began as a hockey referee. He was a true friend who never expected anything in return. I have nothing but very happy memories of Walter. - Posted by: Merv Unger (Boyhood friend) on: Feb 20, 2021
