Carol Douglas (Gibbons), 71, passed away February 11, 2021 in the arms of her husband Rick Hayes, following a brave battle with cancer.
Patient mother of Kris (Christy), Rick (Tanya), and Jason. Proud grandmother to Abby, Sydney, Brooklyn, and Isaiah. Sister to Daryl (Val) Gibbons, Rob (Monique) Gibbons, and Marshall (Debbie) Gibbons. Daughter of Harold and Margaret Gibbons, Carol was predeceased by her mom.
Born January 31, 1950 in London, Ontario, Carol moved with her parents to Winnipeg in 1956. She graduated from Red River Community College and worked at Bittner Brothers as a bookkeeper; later at Royal Bank of Canada, where she met the love of her life Rick Hayes; and retired from Symcor as an auditor.
Carol enjoyed travelling, camping, stargazing, evening walks; loved animals great and small; and was a skilled seamstress and quilter. She was proud to have some of her quilts published in international quilting magazines. She was even more proud of her children and grandchildren; the kind of mom that her sons' friends wanted to adopt as their mom. Carol had many enduring friendships and many loving relatives all across the country, and will be dearly missed.
The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the doctors and especially the nurses of the Buhler Centre at Victoria Hospital for their care and compassion.
No service will be held. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
