HENRI JOSEPH LECUYER
July 28, 1935 – February 18, 2021

It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Henri Lecuyer at the age of 85. He was surrounded by his beloved wife of 65 years, Claire; his children, Richard, Suzanne (Gerry), Colette (Richard) and daughter-in-law Billie; his grandchildren, Nicole, Noelle (Chris), Richard Jr. (Lauren), David (Bre-Anne), Gillian, Patrick (Kylee), Dominic, Stephanie (Justin), Janelle (Scott), Catherine (Colin) and four great grandchildren, Rylee, Remi-Layne, Kiefer and Tessa.
He was predeceased by his son Robert; his parents, Albert and Suzanne; his brothers, Marcel and Andy; his sister-in-law Irene and niece Denise; his parents-in-law, Camille and Carmilia Aubin.
He is survived by his siblings, Gerard, Alice (Rosaire), Bernard (Lois), Paul (Diane), Rose (Ted), Ron (Yvette), Cecile (Robert), Joe (Yvette), George (Darlene), Diane (Gilbert), Maria and sisters-in-law, Pat and Rita; numerous nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
Henri retired as District Fire Chief after 37 years of service with The City of Winnipeg Fire Department and was a member of the Knights of Columbus since the age of 27. Dad spent endless hours working as a volunteer in hopes of making a difference. He will be missed by many.
Our family would like to thank the offices of Doctors, Quy Doan, Robert Kroeker and the Palliative Care Team for helping us fulfill his wishes by caring for him at home, as well as the doctors and nurses from St. Boniface Hospital A5 Cardiology Team. A heartfelt thank you to Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and more specifically to Captain Rob Labossiere #2 Platoon – Station 3 who came to his aid in his final weeks.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba and St. Boniface Hospital Foundation – A5 Cardiology.
As he wished, a memorial service will be held with family and friends, at a time when we can safely gather again to share stories in his honour.

  • My deepest condolences to Claire and all his family. I was young and a new homeowner when I first met Henri. He immediately welcomed me to the St. Boniface neighborhood. In time - as my children were born he became Uncle Henri and really so much a part of my family. I learned so much from him. His love for his family, his genuine kindness, and civic and community spirit were all lessons I carry with me. It was an honour to have shared many memories with this dear kind friend. May the Lord's grace and love be bestowed upon you Henri. I will forever you miss you. - Posted by: DARREN KLUS (Neighbour and friend) on: Mar 16, 2021
