ZATYLNY: Anne Zatylny (Sokal) was born at Sandy Lake, Manitoba to Steve and Tekla Sokal on April 29, 1926. After receiving her education at Rackham (grade 8) she left home and worked over the next 7 years at Minnedosa, Winnipeg and Port Arthur. On one of her visits home she met her future husband Dan who was playing in his band at a dance at Ozerna Hall. They married in October 1949 and farmed in the Sandy Lake/Erickson area. She was an important part of farm life. With milking cows, field work, gardening, etc. she still had time to be an amazing cook, seamstress and homemaker. She planted a huge garden on the farm and continued gardening after moving to Sandy Lake winning an award for her garden there. Many memories include hauling meals to the field, painting the farm buildings, planting many trees, picking roots and stones, bottle feeding calves, crocheting many afghans, the best perogies, many cribbage games etc. There are several anecdotes about hauling grain which may not have seemed funny at the time! She was a generous, kind soul with a good sense of humour. They were active in St. Anthony's RC Church and Jackfish Hall activities. She also served for 10 years as a leader in the Sandy Lake 4H Club. They moved off the farm and spent their retirement in their house on the lake as well as many winters down in Arizona. Anne moved to the Sandy Lake Personal Care Home which she called home for 4 years. The staff there provided excellent care and friendship. She passed away peacefully on February 17, 2021. She is survived by children Sharon Nylen (Reg), Larry (Marie), Audrey Bamber (Lorne); grandchildren Cindy (Chris), Dean (Robin), Laura, Marsha (Ryan), Jason (Maxeen), Richelle (Joe); great-grandchildren Jordyn, Kasen, Kaitlyn, Kyra, Shay, Riley, Quinn, Indiana; sisters Jean Degroot (John), Stella Barrie (John); brother Peter Sokol; sister-in-law Lil Sokal; brother-in-law Mike Zatylny (Doreen) and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Dan Zatylny; parents Steve and Tekla Sokal; parents-in-law Thomas and Anielka Zatylny; sister Frances Ridley; brothers John Sokal, Fred Sokal, Paul Sokal; sisters-in-law Carrie Bachewich, Lucia Zatylny, Jean Sokol; brothers-in-law Jack Barrie, Norm Ridley, Harry Bachewich; niece Shirley Bobbie; grandson Scott Zatylny.
