Phyllis was born March 9, 1923 in Winnipeg and was married to Glen Thomas from 1944 to 1964 living in the Fort Rouge area and had two children, Sharon and David. In 1964 Phyllis was left to raise both kids on her own, which she did very well, while maintaining a house and job at Eaton's. She was a lifelong member of the Sons of Scotland, Robert Burns Camp and met many friends there. This is where she met Harry and a wonderful, blended family was formed when they married in 1974.
Phyllis loved music and was always singing or humming. She also loved to dance, including tap dancing, cooking, baking, cake decorating and sewing.
Phyllis never missed a special occasion and always made sure there was a card, letter, present or special dinner. She loved seeing the grandchildren and would make costumes, teach them to dance and always found ways to have fun with them.
Harry and Phyllis enjoyed 29 very, happy years being with friends, family and travelling at every opportunity. In November 2003, Harry, her rock, passed away at a time when her memory was starting to fade. She remained in their apartment until spring 2005 then went into Metropolitan Kiwanis Courts and in November 2008 she moved into Calvary Place for her remaining years.
Phyllis was a loving, thoughtful, caring person, a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will always be loved and remembered for the joy she brought into everyone's heart.
Interment took place on Friday, February 26, 2021.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to all the staff at Calvary Place Personal Care Home for their exceptional compassionate care for over 12 years and for a quality run facility.
