I remember Roger and his brother Don for their talent during the golden age of journalism at the Winnipeg Free Press. I know he would want me to say he was just as good a skater as reporter. He lived a charming life and contributed more than he extracted from a long life. - Posted by: Ritchie Gage (Journalist friend ) on: Mar 10, 2021

Dear Jan and the Roger Newman family, my heartfelt condolence on the passing of Roger. For him the LAKE WINNIPEG WRITERS GROUP came into being. Ah, and what an illustrious life Roger built, its bright rays touched beginners, amateurs and professional writers. I was once that beginner. Bravo Roger, Community builder. Thank you. You will be missed. Helma PS Still, your cache of writing is there, in the Manitoba Archives. Accessible for everyone. H. Jan, I was saddened to learn about Roger's passing. I think the last time we spoke was at the Matlock July 1 celebration in 2019. I have been thinking about the days when we played hockey together for the Sir John Franklin oldtimers and you were living down the back lane on Campbell St. I asked Ted Holland's son Rob to let his father, who is now in the Rosewood seniors facility in Winnipeg, know about Roger. - Posted by: Kent Morgan (Friend and Hockey Teammate) on: Mar 06, 2021

Jan. I have fond memoirs of the "olden days" when the guys were into lots of sports. Please accept my deepest sympathy. Lynne Claydon - Posted by: Lynne Claydon (old acquaintance from baseball and hockey ) on: Feb 27, 2021
