Nanay Rosing began her journey on October 4, 1920 in Indang, Cavite, Philippines. She was the daughter of Irene (Panganiban) and Norberto Rodriguez. Life took her through the Great Depression and the Second World War. She married her late husband, Carlos Bayas, on January 30, 1944 and had five beautiful children. She immigrated to Canada with her husband and youngest daughter in 1980. There she joined her two other daughters in what would become her home for the next 40 years.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Family and friends were her passion and happiness. She cared deeply for each and every one of them, always ensuring that they were safe, healthy and happy. She was a devout Catholic and prayed the Rosary everyday throughout her life.
Nanay Rosing loved to cook, and her signature dish was arroz valenciana. She also loved to sing, watch the Toronto Blue Jays and soap operas. Her favourite pastimes were playing slots at the casino and enjoying bingo with her family.
She was humble, reserved and also very generous. Her infectious smile always brightened up the room. Her memory was always sharp and outstanding. Up until her passing, she remembered the smallest details along with all of her relatives' birthdays.
Nanay Rosing is survived by her daughters, Lorna Del Rosario, Carmelita Gatdula (Carlos Gatdula), Ledy Cruz (Rick Cruz), Cynthia Rebustillo (Allan Noel Rebustillo); her son Hector Bayas; grandchildren, Chiqui (Alan), Allan, Lloyd, Siegfreid (Jennifer), Jasmine (Ron), RJ (Melissa C.), Melissa (JR), Melanie (Jason), Michael (Joana) and Chelsea; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Skylar, Braylon, Scarlett, Bryson, Zane, Silas, Jayden and Tenley; her sister, Tia Olay; as well as numerous nephews, nieces and close friends.
She was predeceased by her son-in-law Boying Del Rosario.
Nanay Rosing will incredibly be missed for her constant bright smiles, huge heart and her dedication to those she loved. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faithfulness, and strength.
The family expresses sincere thanks to her home care aides, Marivic, Vicky and Valerie; the staff of Seven Oaks General Hospital and the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service for their care and compassion. We give special thanks to Father Dado Parrenas for his blessing and service.
Private viewings and interment were held for immediate family members and close friends on Friday, February 26 and Saturday, February 27 at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home and Cemetery.
