BERNARDITA R. BUENO
July 14, 1924 - February 27, 2021
Peacefully on Saturday, February 27, 2021, at the age of 96, Bernardita Bueno (nee Ramos) returned home to her Heavenly Creator.
Bernardita was predeceased by her parents, Cornelio and Emilia; husband, Mario; brother, Carlito; sisters, Celestina, Remedios and Felicidad. She is survived by her brother, Simplicio; her sister, Elsa; her three children, Evangeline (Manuel), Carina (Nelson-deceased 2008) and Rolando (Angelina); her 10 grandchildren, Vince (Maricris), Jacqueline, Katherine (fiancé Simon), Jonathan, Kateri (Henry), Justin (girlfriend Janessa), Ralph (Belle), Bernard, Patrick, Paula; and her many nieces and nephews.
Bernardita was born to parents, Cornelio and Emilia (nee Cruz) Ramos on July 14, 1924 in Calumpit, Bulacan, Philippines. There, she had her store and a home-based bakeshop. In addition, she was a member of the Catholic Women's League and served as its treasurer for several years at the Nuestra Senora Del Carmen Parish. She married the late Mario M. Bueno on September 12, 1952 and they went on to have three children: Evangeline, Carina and Rolando. In May 1985, Bernardita, and her late husband Mario, immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada where she worked at a personal care home before retiring in 1988. Aside from being a loving mother, grandmother, and a second mother to some, she shared her amazing talent of cooking and baking with her family and friends, especially her roll cakes, homemade bread (pandesal), lecheflan and, of course, spring rolls (lumpia). During special occasions, she always loved to socialize and have a good laugh with everyone. Most of all, she loved to babysit her grandchildren during their much younger days.
Lamay will be held at Glen Lawn Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Emile Roman Catholic Church with interment to follow in the Philippines.
The Cordova and Bueno families wish to thank Evelyn Sabourin, Maritess and Jeanine of WRHA-Home Care Services, the medical staff at the Grace Hospital and Riverview Health Centre for providing their care and support.
